Slight (!) Problem

Mum just booted up the netbook, and was greeted with this:

and

I have connected an external monitor and it is not the graphics card. The netbook is a Packard Bell Dot S 510 Purple.

You may not be able to see, but there are massive cracks across the monitor also, and the cracks produce a ripple around them if you adjust the angle of the screen (open or close it).

I think that a cat may have jumped off of the windowsill onto the closed laptop, as the two "blobs" seem to resemble paw prints, and as I have a cat that weighs 1 stone, it is quite likely.

What I need to know is how easy (if possible) is it to replace. What would it cost, would I be able to do it? I have never encountered this before...so I have ZERO experience.

Any help is appreciated

The screen had been physically broken/cracked. Either it's been stepped on, or something heavy was put on it, or it was dropped.

Putting in a new screen is easy if you have experience with fixing electronics. It can be overwhelming if you have zero experience, but it's screwed anyway so may as well give it a shot.

Screen is damaged mate, you need to get a new screen in it.

Yes the screen is damaged. It looks like the LCD is behind a plastic panel. If so you'll probably need to take a heat gun to it to release the glue and then pull the LCD out. You can plug the model number into eBay to find a replacement.

Ordered a new LED screen. I have to say that it was relatively easy to remove. I'll keep this thread updated. Should be here by Thursday.

That's good. You just need make sure no book are on laptop, which can sometime break it. I had seem some laptop with LCD are break easily. Plus laptop backpack is biggest positive.
