So I go to CompUSA....

The thing with the Aspires is that they use really crappy motherboards, powersupplies and RAM. They also use Caviar harddrives. The price is really good though, no question.

You'll have to make sure you get good airflow around that harddrive, so you'll want to add a fan in the front of the case. Swap the PSU out and you should be ok to go.

What's wrong with caviar drives? i use one as an external drive and it is only on about twice a month for couple of hours with no fan (as it is in an external case) anything to fear?

Don't get me started on Caviars. I have another dead Caviar on my desk from a custom built system this morning, not even two years old. I have one in the back seat of my car, brand new, died in 24 hours about a week ago and cost me hours of time. I've repaired a dozen corrupt WD Caviars this week (and funny enough, no other brand). I see a dozen dead or buggered up Caviars each week...and one dead Seagate in the last two years.

Soooo.. You tell me.
