Something fried? Comp not turning on

So I'm shutting down my computer as normal via start menu. Monitor shuts off, comp shuts off. For whatever reason I decide to turn off the surge protector too (I usually leave it on). Its not a regular power strip surge protector, its a big gray, supposedly high quality surge protector, APC Power Manager (very old).

Anyways, in about an hour I come back to turn the comp on, and all i get is the power light flashing once and then nothing. I unplug everything and start trying things. I use different outlets, different power cords, switching the, what seems to be a PSU on/off switch? on the case back and forth. I still get a flicker from the LED light and then nothing, I don't hear any fans or anything.

So what could it be? I'm thinking, even though the comp was off, it still had power running to it, and the immediate withdrawal may have blown something? Somethings definetly wrong lol, but I haven't been able to diagnose it. Any ideas? lol, thanks for the help.

What type of computer are we talking about here? One of the new Dell's I worked on last summer did something similar right out of the box(power light flashed Amber, no other activity) Get this, it turned out to be a bad hard drive. The computer worked fine with another HD installed.

As for your case, I would start internally, pulling what you can to see if it'd work. I'd also try another PSU if at all possible.

I built the comp about 6 months ago. Core 2 Duo 6600, gigabyte board, rosewell psu, eva gpu, patriot memory, seagate hd. Haven't had any problems up until now and I unfortunately do not have access to another PSU. I'm a novice when it comes to internals, I barely got the thing together the first time lol. Ill get my uncle to look at it tommoro, I was just wondering if this was common and had an easy fix that a nub like me could pull off lol.

I opened up the case and was poking around, theres no obvious damage, no burnt odor, etc. Not sure what else there is to do at this point with my minute knowledge lol.

I would check your psu, sometimes they go without any notice :/ Try a different psu when you can, and see where that gets you. Good Luck :)
