Speakeasy Speed Test Problem!!!!!!

:( Okay i took the test about a month or two ago and it said my d/l was about 2200 (about 270kb/s). I did it a few times after and the results have been stable at around the same speed. However, for no reason i did it again about a week ago and it strugles to get over 1000, strange! so i do it a day or two later, the same happens and i can't figure out why. Does anybody know why this is happening or is the test just unreliable?:P

EDIT:I am using a belkin N1 router with a wireless G+MIMO usb stick.
 
Well, look under task manager and see from under the network tab. Or you can try other kinds like the one you use. I used that one too. Seems to be one of the more reliable one.
 
I agree, the majority of people who have used it say that it is reliable, but i don't understand why the sudden drop in speed?
 
Well, when you download something is it still at the same speed when your downloading as it was a while ago?
 
Do you know anything i could download about 10 or 20mb just to see?

EDIT: Never mind i downloaded a file about 20mb and it downloaded at 113kb/s from filefront. While it was downloading i had a look in windows task manager and in the networking tab it said i was using about 0.7% of my bandwidth!

EDIT:Filefront just uploads slow, it seems this whole thread was a waste of time sorry, i downloaded a file from Gameburnworld and it downloaded at about 250kb/s so all is still good, sorry for wasting your time!!!

I always get the same every time 5000kbps down and 609kbps up, my guess is you are on cable and alot of people in your neighborhood was downloading something at the time or one of your neighbors is accessing your wireless somehow...do you have it encripted WEP? If so change from WEP to WPA! 802.11's WEP (Wired Equivalency Privacy) encryption has well-known weaknesses that make it relatively easy for a determined user with the right equipment to crack the encryption and access the wireless network. A better way to protect your WLAN is with WPA (Wi-Fi Protected Access). WPA provides much better protection and is also easier to use, since your password characters aren't limited to 0-9 and A-F as they are with WEP.
