Speed Toshiba Laptop 16GB Intel Core i7

If you keep the system free of crap software and malware and do general maintenance on it then yes it will. However, if you have a slow 5900rpm mechanical drive instead of a fast SSD then performance will suffer.

Thank you guys, I guess I need to replace my hard drive for a SSD. I'm wondering how difficult it will be.

Jerry, when my father got his new laptop, an MSI but same CPU and RAM as your Toshiba, he opted to ditch the 1TB drive in it, (which wasn't even 7200rpm) for a 250GB Samsung 850P Pro SSD and the difference was remarkable.

If you can sacrifice a larger capacity HDD, for a smaller capacity, but significantly faster SSD, you will most likely get the kick you are wanting.

Thank you again for your help, I'm searching for types of SSD to get one to fit my laptop.

This means I don't own a good laptop, do I?

Don't think like that, there are many options for many users. Nothing wrong with the 6500U its just not a quad core, and most people only associate i7 series as quad cores.

Your 6500U is a 6th generation CPU. 2 Cores/4 Threads

Got it. Thank you.

Oh, too bad. Now I know what's the problem with this laptop. I thought it was a good one lol.

It's a fine laptop, Jerry. It is possible its just not doing what you expected. An SSD will be a good help to you and I think it's worth the investment, if you do grab one post back and someone here can help walk you thru how to install it, copy stuff over etc!!

Don't get down about it, cause I've used my fathers a few times, and its a snappy little unit--I see no reason you wont achieve the same boost with minimal additional investment,.

Awesome, I'm going to buy the one you suggested me, can I keep both drives (HD and SSD) or should I replace it?

You can keep both physical drives, but most likely your laptop can only hold 1 physical drive, so you'd remove the HDD, and install the SSD.

Maybe @johnb35 or someone can link to a step by step to move OS and other stuff over efficiently.

the drive you remove, for $20ish you can buy a 2.5" caddy and turn that HHD into a portable USB drive!!!
