Ok, so this is only my second build.

My first one was easy enough. Assemble components, burn Linux ISO file to Disk put in Cd drive, and shazam, Linux OS came up with option to install. Now on my second build with the parts bellow.

Assembled fine, insert windows 7 disk, and nothing. Try to use same Linux install disk I used on my first build, again, nothing. I'm really confused as to why the software is not booting up. Can someone help.

-I have set CD drive to 1st boot position.
-When system boots up this shows up

"marvell 88se91xx adaptor - bios version 1.0.0.1027
pcie x 1.58GBps
mode: passthru IDE
Disk Information:
No hard disk is detected!"

But my Hard drive is shown in the BIOS.

And now that i have fought with it for hours, and I look at the OS i purchased. Is it an OS? What is OEM? Especially with this in the product description

"Use of this OEM System Builder Channel software is subject to the terms of the Microsoft OEM System Builder License. This software is intended for pre-installation on a new personal computer for resale. This OEM System Builder Channel software requires the assembler to provide end user support for the Windows software and cannot be transferred to another computer once it is installed. To acquire Windows software with support provided by Microsoft please see our full package "Retail" product offerings."

AGH, please tell me i didn't screw up when at the checkout lane!

OEM basically means it is licensed to only be used on ONE machine, for personal use, tho its mostly sold to vendors, its fine there, can you try another HDD to make sure your AOK? you might have a DOA harddrive, which would not be uncommon, sometimes they get jostled around in shipping.

Have you tried going into the BIOS and selecting something else for your harddrive instead of IDE? That can sometimes be a simple fix. Just go into BIOS and find IDE configuration or something like that and select something else such as AHCI i think is what it is. Unless you have an IDE configured drive. Let me know if you need help and i'll do more research on it.

what matt said i guess, and the oem system builder disk is the only way to install to the hdd with nothing on it, all other copies of win7 use the already installed core components and upgrade some of the framework, they are sort of like a remodeling of a house, nut that is useless if there is no foundation and framing to use the new stuff on.

So all i should have to do is put the OEM CD in the drive right?

I tried switching sata config mode to RAID and AHCI --
Same result, even still that first pop up still said

"mode: passthru IDE"

I pulled the other drive from my other computer already, bc i figured they same thing, but it still said the same thing.

But its detecting it in my BIOS so is this even a problem you think? Could it be whats stopping me from installing windows7?

try pulling a hdd with windows fro another comp to see if that'll work or if it's a bad mobo, and try swapping plugs and such, only things i can think of, i'm not the most knowledgeable person here, far from it actually and especially in this topic

So I switched out hdd with my other one and go the same statement, also switched it with an SSD that has linux OS and it didnt boot up. So that makes me wonder, is my Motherboard fried.

See but the BIOS screen shows up good and all that. Has couple of low quality games to play, its pretty sweet.
but windows7 CD still will not boot up with different CD Drive and hard drive.

so the issue must me motherboard or CPU right?

I have switched sata cables/points on mobo as well.

the bios may work but it could be a bad cappasitor or whater any of the things in there are along the line from the hdd's to the bios chipsets that send it to the cpu. if it's under warranty i'd see into returning the mobo

Even though you have the CD/DVD drive set as first in the boot order. Look at the bottom of the boot screen and see if it says. To Boot from CD (press any or Enter key)

the solution is sooo stupid, i figured it out. I took out my video card and plugged it back in the same slot and wallah it worked.

Still getting that no hard disk deteced but i can access it he HDD and use it though.
