Strange CPU Temp

Within operational limits. I would consider it, even if it reduced temps a fraction. My card uses the same core GPU as yours so my temps are pretty much exactly the same as yours. And as soon as I get my tube of AS5 i'll be doing it.

yes, but remember that my gpu is seriously overclocked to 620/815 from the regular 450/650 i think something like that. Atleast it's not 93 C load like on my old radeon x800 xt lol!

IMO Speedfan is garbage. Just about everything it has 'read' appears to be wrong in that shot.

Those TAT temps are good :)

It sounds ok. You started idle around 40C when you put the heatsink on the first time? Pretty good improvement for doing just about nothing :)

You lucky.. I can't overclock nearly as well as that with my chip!

Yeah it'd be a good idea to slap some of that thermal gunk on. Cooler is better, eh?

Yeah, I guess you're right...

It's going down, 34c on both cores now :P

36c when browsing the net, with far more tabs open than before, so it is getting better, just give it a while more :D

Alright I'm up and running, everything went very smoothly. I'll have the pics up once I'm done installing stuff.

Kornowski, I have seen your pics on second page, and I have to tell you:

What I usually do is that I apply the paste of an equivalent size to a rice grain, and then put the heatsink on. I don't spread. Usually, what it does, is that upon compression, the paste is squished, but upon turning on, the paste will kick in upon heat up and then it will be active.

My prescott has seen 29C on cold days upon that.

Well, this method seems to of worked so far, so I'll just see how much of a difference it makes when I get back from holiday, other than that, I'll have to apply it agian! :(

If it aint broke you're not trying :D Ever wish you just left the stock preapplied stuff on? :P

I remember when I screwed up putting AS5 on, it was the last time I spread it before sticking the heatsink on. I had somehow managed to get a large no contact area right in the middle of the stupid thing. I powered my computer on and it went to 70C and I turned it back off :P

lol, Yeah, I kind of do to be honest! :P

So you don't spread it when you put it on Cromewell? lol, How did you manage that!?

Umm the cooler is actually the exact same type of cooler the 6600 series used, lmao ='< But i modded my case and it has pretty good airflow, oh and since my card is the xxx edition it already comes clocked at 600/800, i just pushed it that extra bit. Lol

I just put a blob in the middle, put the heatsink on and give it a little bit of a twist then fasten it down.
