The Best Home Computer

I just looked at some benchmarks and saw the the cpu I found at my supllier runs @2.4 Ghz and the best at Passmark CPU Benchmark is the same but runs @ 2.93Ghz. Can I overclock mine to 2.93 Ghz or how is this managed? Or is a Duo CPU really enough?

a core 2 duo is perfect at the time.. im getting the E6600, and in a few months time if i find i want more ill overclock then..but until then a duo CPU is fine:)

thanks ceewi1, the antec looks good and my supllier has it.

Ok Sniper, if you say so. Then it will be a core 2 duo. Is the E6600 the best? Or shall I get another one?

Now back to the display. I think a plasma is really to much.
Plasmas are so much more expensive but dont bring that much more quality.

Ehm, with Sli you meant I shall get two Geforce 8800 Ultra and connect them with this Sli-thing?

nah get the plasma! not good quality??wtf?? their awesome:D:D i played Gears of War on my plasma and omg its crazy!! u actually look around on the screen almost as if u were there plus the screen is everything about a gaming pc! because its what actualy displays the whole kit that u have invested soo much into:D plus if u have the money to buy TWO ultras u must have the cash to buy a plasma.. ur better off buying one ultra and spending what u would have spent on a second ultra to buy a plasma

phew, ok then... is there a good plasma that I can afford?

ok well im from australia and a good plasma here is about $1500.. im not sure how much they are in america or anywhere else..

as for the rest of ur rig i REALLY suggest u go to a good pc shop near you and talk to them.. if u tell them u want to spend a few thousand dollars they will most certainly give you their undivided attention.. plus they can make ur pc for u so all u have to do is go in tell them u want the 8800 ultra and between 2 and 8 Gb of 800Mhz ram a good hardrive for eg the 10000rpm Raptor and if u want buy a quad core cpu and then just tell them to chose the best mobo and other components to go with it:)

as for a case i got the raidmax rx9 i think it looks great for gaming! but its totaly up to you:)

and once u have this thing built u have to post a pic:D:D

You can get the E6600 up to about 3.6GHz on a good overclocking motherboard with air I believe but you may be able to get higher if you use water cooling. eVGA do a board that is designed to be watercooled as it has all the blocks already in place.

why overclock the E6600 to near breaking point when he has the cash to buy a quad? plus as soon as u overclock anything it totaly voids the warrenty and also shortens the components lifespan

It only decreases the life by a small amount; and if the chip does break by overclocking it's hard to prove that you caused it. Because when you remove a chip from a motherboard it reverts to factory settings. You could get the Q6600 and overclock it and even more so with the QX6700 because of the unlocked multiplier.

hmm but the thing is, I live in "Service Wüste Deutschland" (= Service Desert Germany)
This means here you don't trust in guys in shops...
I believe, that you guys know a lot more about pc's than the guys in our PC Shops.

Yeah but if a quad is an expensive thing I don't need than i don't want to have it.
Wich one would be perfect for gaming? + is it far more expensive than the other one?
And if I wait until the 22.7.07. I read the prices will drop.

Oh I think 1500$ is way to many for a display.
I think I can get very good 22" TFT's for a few hundred $.
I put one on the List in my top post, seemed to be the best at my supplier. (22", 2ms, 3000:1)
Is there anything better?

Hey I just read, that the "Intel Core 2 Duo E6850" is as nearly as good as the "Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6800" though it just costs a fourth of it.
It even has better FPS for Doom 3.
Okay you can't run as many programs as on the big one but who cares?

Get 2 raptors of 74gb and run them in raid instead of the 150 raptor, second get 2x500gb hard drive since the price difference between 1tb and 2x500gb is more than half

It would be good, but if you need an insane amount of space i wouldn't get them unless you're adding an extra hdd of at least 320gb more

Do you really want an insane computer? Cause I can put something together way better. But also very expensive; you did say no budget though.

Okay do that. Im getting very interrested in this stuff again and spend hours just for reading texts about pc components.
Im trying to understand all of that, so with the wisdom I have by now I dont think that there will be any machine much better.
Okay there are parts that are a little better than mine but cost way more than them. Or am I wrong?

Motherboard: same as you posted
CPU: Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6800 Kentsfield 2.93GHz
GPU: Two XFX PVT80USHD9 GeForce 8800Ultra XXX
HDD: Keep the 2 Raptor Drives but instead of that 500GB WD get a HITACHI Deskstar 7K1000 1TB HDD
RAM: This ram is pretty amazing too A-Data DDR2 1066
CPU Cooler: Tuniq Tower 120
Display: HP LP2465 Carbonite-Black 24" 6 ms
Sound: Stick with that one
CD/DVD Burner: Two LG Black 20X
Mouse: Razer Copperhead Tempest Blue 2000 dpi Gaming Mouse
Keyboard: I prefer ergonomic keyboards but a lot of people don't, so meh.
W-Lan: whatever your preference
PSU: Thermaltake Toughpower W0133RU 1200W
Case: JUST PC R700 Black Steel ATX although the P180B is also a very nice case. Just another option though.
Almost forget don't forget the Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound!

(Yes, people I know this computer is overkill.)
