The Best Home Computer

  • CPU: Like this Benchmark shows, the "Intel Core 2 Duo E6850" is on same level with the "Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6800", at least at Quake 4 and S.T.A.L.K.E.R..
  • HDD: I think 500GB is enough for me. And its extern. That would be very comfortable for me.
  • RAM: This Benchmark shows, that the "Kingston HyperX PC2-9600 2 GB" gets better ratings than the "Corsair Dominator XMS2 PC-9136 2 GB". And if I understood it right, these Dominators are even a little bit better than the ones you mentioned. Am I wrong?
  • Cooler: The Specs of the Scythe Infinity seem to me much better than the Specs of the Tuniq Tower 120
  • PSU: Okay 1200 Watt is a big chunk of energy but do I really need it? As long as all of the components get enough energy its ok. Isn't it?

You don't need 1200W, but the 550W PSU you've listed is a little small. I'd be hesitant to run a system like that on that PSU long term.
 
okay thanks for the wiki and the A-Data Ram (though I cant find benchmarks for it), looks good, do you think that 2gb are enough?

yeah sounds right ceewi1 but how much will I need? Is there a way to find that out?

Hey I just read on another forum, that SLI Graphic Card Configurations will only increase the graphic efficiency by 30% in comparison to just having one GPU. And that it is extremely loud...
Is that true?
 
yes, most people have found that SLI configurations do not increase performance all that much. There are also drawbacks to SLI including, as you said, loudness, as well as only being able to have one monitor. it is usually better to get a single better video card than two lower end models, but what is really comes down to is personal preference.

From what I've read that A-Data ram is the fastest overclocked ram available. If 2Gb isn't enough. Buy another pair. Also don't get a dell.
