The computer does't recognize any drives

maybe you're tryin to press the one in the numpad while numlock is off
i'm kinda runnin out of ideas !!

You can take out the motherboard battery for a few minutes, but if theres a setting thats not default you cant get back in to reset it

I unplugged the DVD drive and the computer booted!
Unfortunately I had no time to try if it booted when having a DVD drive as primary slave. But even if it works that way, I'm not satisfied... I wanna use it as a secondary master.
I'll probably reset the BIOS and see if it changes anything...

i dont think u have to reset the bios
just swap between IDE drives if u have more than 2(HDD,DVD,........)
do u have a problem with the DVD being secondary slave ?

Stupid me.
It works just fine now. I put the secondary cable upside down - this is why the computer didn't boot.
As it's impossible to plug the primary cable in upside down I thought that secondary cable couldn't be plugged in upside down also... I didn't even check :o

Well, anyway - thank you for your ideas!
