The Macbook Air

Ok, let me change what I said! Mac's themselves (hardware) suck but the OS rocks!!

well the hardware is like any other computer - Intel, Good Hardware, macs are just a very good but the price is very high for what they are.

yeah Macs suck so bad, they suck sooooooo bad that Hollywood uses them to make the biggest movies and the recording industry uses them to make smash hit albums. NASA does their research on you guessed it, macs. Yeah they totally suck:rolleyes:

What you guys don't get as hobbyists and gamers is that not everyone out there is like you as a computer user. The Macbook Air is not made to replace the macbook or the macbook Pro, it is instead just another tool to get the job done.

For one I have a Macbook Pro and I pretty much never ever use the optical drive. I install everything pretty much over wireless, or download it form the internet (legally of course). Most of my apps are open source anyway for my mac, and they are free.

What the Macbook air offers is fast reliability, mobility, and prolonged battery life. If you were a scientist out in the field doing research the Macbook Air would be perfect, or a lawyer going to and from court every day, it would be perfect. All professions like that where people are on the go, they typically have an office with a desktop and their laptop is their on the go machine. The Macbook Air simply is the on the go machine. Also, if you are lugging around a lot of equipment the small size and low weight of the MBA makes it very appealing to certain people.

I probably wouldn't have the "need" really for one myself, but I could use one for what I do.

So really all of you that just sit there and say something sucks and have pretty much no idea of what it is or how to use it, pretty much make your point not valid, because you can't back it up with facts or real world experience.

Oh and by the way, they aren't over priced and I am tired of explaining that to people who don't know what they are talking about.

The macbook air is slower the specs that kill bill posted were slow compared to a macbook pro!

But they are very good for both editing and for general use but there has been many threads on macs and i think everyone has their own opnion!

You're right!! They do suck

Yeah, but your opinion on the subject is pretty much worthless. BTW, I fixed your grammatical error.

Again, you are failing to see the point, it is not meant to replace any of their current laptops. Of course it has some lower specs because those lower specs take up a lot less power to run. Plus with a solid state drive it consumes even less power. It is made for longevity in the field, it is a niche market item, plain and simple. Given the choice between a MBA or a MBP, I would most likely choose the MBP because I never need to be somewhere with out power for extended periods of time. In fact, I can't even do my job without power.

You can't compare it to other laptops because it is in it's own class. Like I said, it is a niche market and would be most useful to certain people in certain fields. It is just probably not for you.

So how much did apple pay you to say all of this?

Apple gives me nothing, as well as Unix and Linux, Novell and Microsoft, they all pay me zilch. I am not trying to bust your balls but you don't give any valid points other than, "they suck," which really means nothing if you can't back it up.

I use all of the above and have used them for my job. They all have their place and they all have their advantages. Windows is one of the most bloated OSes out there period, but you do get some advantages to the bloat like backwards compatibility. However, you sacrifice quality for quantity every time.

If you can give a comprehensive reason with facts and experience as to why they suck then I would buy it, and say OK, that is your stance and it is valid in your view. However, you and every one else on this forum epically fail to do so. None of you can validly point out why they suck. You can hate them and dis like them that is your opinion and that is fine, but that does not prove that they are over priced or that they are junk or that they suck.

You can't even come close to building a Mac Pro for what Apple charges for one from them. I have tried, the dual quad-core xeons are $700 each. Meaning you will drop $1400 on processors alone, then you have to build everything else with what is left. However, people on this forum will try to compare it to a core 2 duo system, and they are completely wrong. Like when Travis tried to tell me he could build a Dell (which are made with crap parts) is way better, yet he was failing to add in all the built in features, like the high end LED screen. A Mac is like a high end car. Sure you can go out and buy a KIA and the KIA will stop and go, and can travel 80 MPH, but it doesn't have all the features a Lexus does off of the lot.

This subject is tired and busted, and I think we should just move to have all Mac threads just locked since they just start ridiculous arguments with people who don't know anything about Macintosh but act like they are experts on the subject.

I dont have to back up any of my opinions b/c an opinion is an opinion and we all have different ones. STOP typing a fricking essay each post b/c its getting annoying! Do you expect anyone to read all that crap?

Quit posting crap and I will then quit correcting your crap with well thought explanations. Deal?

...sounding like an idiot here mate

I read it, makes a lot of sense, and it's hardly long.

SpaceVT- it was a nice review i'd have to say. There is a few spelling errors and all but w/e, nice job.

Thanks! I really appreciate that. It takes a lot of effort to do these reviews so im glad that you thought it was ok.:)

I guess I needed to re-check the spelling!:D

Im amazed at all the debating that is going on over Mac.

Its not a gamming computer, its not the most powerful computer, its just the thinest, most light weight computer ever built.

Its not for everyone, but thats why we all have choices as to what model fits our needs in this world.

I just have an appreciation for the computer because of the innovation and design-thats it.

You've got to admit at least that much.

:D
