Well...
I am going to be hosting my first LAN. An xbox LAN actually.

Ive bookmarked some guides.
If anyone has any experience, or wants to donate there 2 cents, that'd be great.

I know everyone will have to bring an xbox, the game and a tv.

Do I, as host, need anything else?

Thanks

Make sure you have plenty of cat5/6/crossover cable and routers/switches. Also plenty of snacks and outlets for people to plug into. Its wise to tell your guests to bring their own outlet dividers (for lack of a better name).'

Have fun.

EDIT: Music?

You can LAN Xbox's and 360's, but they have to have the original Xbox game in both, such as Halo 2 of Call of Duty 2.

Make sure you have plenty of game types to play. Myself, I can play slayer all day long, but that bores some people, so make sure you have plenty to keep everyone happy. Throw in some dodgeball, ninjanaut, zombies, etc game types to keep things interesting.

One thing that you could do, if things start to slow down and you think that people are getting bored, try and get everyone to put like $5 or $3 on a game. That really steps up the competitiveness, get the adrenaline pumping when there is actually something to be won... think of it, 16 people x $5 = $80 prize, enough to get most people excited.

Betting may not be good.
This is an all age type thing...

=/

Is like 6 hours of xbox LAN gaming good?

Like...11am-5 or something.

When I host a pc LAN it will be like 11am-9pm

Do I need a crossover cable?

Whats a good tutorial?

And is this how it should be set up?

And can I get a link to a good crossover cable.
And I have a 24 port 1/100mbps Ethernet Switch.
And do I just pick what game and settings, with the crossover for my hosting 360?
Ill have more then 3 people btw.

Good Crossover? - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812117819
Then theres this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812117818 its shorter, I don't think Ill need 50ft for a crossover cable for my xbox.

I need a good Ethernet.
The color, doesn't matter, just something that wont get confused with others.

The Ethernet will be for the xbox LANs and pc LANs.

Thanks

If I am hosting the connections, Can I still play on that xbox?

And is a crossover needed?
Am I pretty much party leader of everything done?

Thanks

If you are using a switch then no, you should use straight ethernet, not crossover. Yes you can still play on your xbox. Your pritty much set.

I dont need a crossover?, Sweet.

What are some methods for xbox and 360's to connect to there monitors.

Cause I plan to use my new 32'' lcd.

But I dont want my guests to lug heavy tvs.

Thanks

Well you have to have the VGA cables to hook them up to their monitors, unless they have component or composite inputs (which I highly doubt they do). The cables for the 360 are $40, and they are great. I have them and use them all the time to play in 720p on my LCD. IDK how much the ones for original Xbox are of the top of my head (or if they even make them) but I would think they are probally close to the same amount if they exist.

If your buying a 32" TV then it should. You won't want to use them though (I'm assuming your going to want to play in high definition)

Lol yes.
Are there separate cables that play it in high def?

Thanks

To play in high def you cant use the standard red, white and yellow cables. You'll probably want to use component video as I believe it comes with the 360, but I'm not sure
It'll have red, green and blue cables

EDIT: you will still use the red and white cables for audio though
