3 questions:

Is this a good system thats decently upgradable? The motherboard should allow me to fit a second graphics card in the future and atleast another 4 GB of RAM.

Is there anything I'm forgetting?

Can I do better for £850?

I'm planning on hooking it up to my 40" samsung LCD tv via hdmi to begin with, but will get a proper monitor and desk at some point in the future when i've got more room.

Thanks in advance

James

Price seems slight expensive...
I recommend you check the price at ebuyer.com or google product search

PSU - Don't know the quality of that brand, I recommend you go for some reliable well-known brand.
If you want second video card, 650W is just enough,
I do suggest you get 750W, which leave you a bit margin for overclocking.

Case - style not my cup of tea... I personally prefer case like CM HAF 922/ Antec 902
BTW CM Storm Scout + Coolermaster Silent Pro 700W Modular PSU combo from ebuyer provide good value

Thanks for the advice. Funnily enough I'd looked at that case aswell. I'll check out the rest of prices on ebuyer aswell. Cheers

That motherboard has an H57 chipset, which meant for Clarkdale CPU's. You'll want a P55.

Your CPU will work with that board, but the H57 is expensive for what you get and you'll have those useless video connectors on it...

Other than that, maybe spring for a Sapphire or XFX 5770 instead? Their build quality is much better than Powercolor's.

I wouldn't recommend powercooling as a PSU brand. OCz,Thermaltake, Corsair, Sliverstone, Antec, those are brands I would recommend :)

This was the review comment:

"I've bought the Gigabyte GA-P55A-UD3R, knowing beforehand that I wouldn't be able to run Crossfire and USB3/SATA3 at the same time, as the extra lanes for the second PCI Express slot, are used for them instead. So they are mutually exclusive. The thing is, as the second slot only works as a 4x slot, Crossfire is hobbled on all Gigabyte's P55A boards, below a UD4. So if you want to use Crossfire, irrespective of whether you want to use USB3/SATA3, you still need to buy at least a GA-P55A-UD4. Whether you can use USB3/SATA3, at the same time as Crossfire, on a UD4 or higher, that I can't say."

If you look at the specs, you'll see that the UD3 one has one PCIe at 16x, which is where the GPU goes, and one PCIe at 4x. You CAN technically crossfire with that, but it'll be bottlenecked pretty bad. You want at least 8x/8x, which is what the UD4 you posted has.

Thanks very much for that Drenlin.

Okay. I've now got a shopping list costing £900. It's a combination of ebuyer and scan.co.uk.

1TB Western Digital WD1002FAEX Caviar Black, SATA 6Gb/s, 7200rpm, 64MB Cache, 8 ms
