Too many fans?

2x case fans
1x HDD cooler (2 fans)
1x upgraded CPU fan (makes alot of noise)
2x PSU fans
1x GFX fan
1x Northbridge fan

If you turn it on its around the same as an box fan on medium... and I'm about to add some RAM crab fans too...

Can I take off some without raising the temps?

PS - Leave it on for one hour, it will heat my whole room. Open up the case, its like your outside in the sun.

P4 systems run hot to start with. A good cpu cooler and good air flow throughout the case should see temps more reasonable. When upgrading the old case last spring the case here had two 80s rear and top seeing board temps at 48C idle! While the more compact atx mid tower had good looks the air flow was almost none.

Before even seeing the Antec Nine Hundred now ready for a new build the AeroCool model seen at the link here saved the day with a 140mm front intake and 120mm rear plus two 120s on the side cover. http://www.xoxide.com/aerocool-aeroengine-2-black.html

You want to see board temps drop fast? Try 31C idle then seen when everything went into the larger gaming case. Even with a Zalman CNPS 9500 sitting on the AMD64 3500+ nothing lowered that from 44-46C down to 33C idle any faster. Lately the cpu is running about 28C idle after the latest blowout of dust buildup.

The Antec has two 120s for front, one for the rear, and a 200mm on the top. The vent on the side cover seems to allow for a single 120 there too. Talk about fans? Without an air conditioned case seeing some $300-$400 price tag I love larger and more here. :D

as long as their not fighting for air :D i think two rear one front and one on the side and one on top is good enough

The one thing that helps the most is having that cooler air being broight into the case and not simply counting on how much there is for exhaust. The last case saw high temps despite rear and top simply due to not having at least front or side vents for drawing in the cooler air while the heated was getting thrown out. That model case can be seen at http://www.2cooltek.com/Spire-BlackFin-III-Mid-Tower-Case-SP-2009B-p-1050.html

For a good case with increased air flow the price will climb above the $22.95 price seen there. A gaming case will cost more and be actually larger in size over the typical compact mid tower case. I know that all too well trying to fit another one soon in the cabinet on a pc type desk!

Naa that's not too many, I have 12 lol

1 PSU fan
1 CPU fan
1 GFX fan
2 rear case fans
2 side fans
2 front fans
1 top fan
2 internal fans

Case temp is currently 27C

i wouldnt say its too many...i would like more in mine as i only have,

Psu fan
Cpu fan
120Mm exhaust fan
GPU fan

And im not happy with my temps at most times.

Nice temp [email protected] mine were that low:cool:

This is the case I have (http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2337812&sku=ULT33179) and I was wondering if what I currently have for fans, 2 80mm fans one in the front as intake and one in the rear as outake, the fan on my processor, and the fan on my graphics card 7950GT is the max number of fans I can use with the case. Is there any way to add another like in the side vent (but thats kind of where the processor fan blows) or as an intake that uses the 5.25" bays front (I saw a picture that looked like it in one of the post your desktop threads not a bay cooler but a fan that looks like its attached on replacement drive bay faces) or am I limited to that fan setup because of the case?

Thanks

edit: forgot about the fan in my psu

I was having temp problems a while ago. Then i dug out 3 antec 80mm fans i have. I was told to put the two at the front blowing air into the case and two at the back (excluding psu) exhaling the air. True to the word, my system temps were idleing at around 33C and load temps 38C. But my CPU was still loading in the low to mid 50's. Also it made my computer sound like a wind tunnel.:(

What i did (after a lot of messing around) was take the two off the rear and mount one blowing air in over the ram and the side of the cpu heatsink. I put that on high, left one in the front and put that on low. Now my computer is almost silent. :) Temps are:

(Idle - Load)
System 38C - 41C
CPU 40C - 47C
Aux 40C - 47C
HD 31C - 38C
Core 40C - 46C

Does playing Halo at max settings count as full load? The Spire is doing great for me right now...

My board temps have always been cooler than my cpu. On all of my computers ... (23)

The one possible option there besides going with water cooling and hard drive coolers would be to see if 120mm to 80mm adapters will fit in there to run larger fans. That would help.

You would use an adapter if you were stuck with 80mm fans to allow for use of the 120s. That was in response to your question about having two 80s instead of having 120s.

oh typo... my intake and exhaust fans are 120mm i don't know why i typed 80 thats why i was confused by your response

thanks tho

I added two more 120s on the side cover to direct air straight at the board while the cpu cooler throws heated air aways sideways away from that. This also helps with memory and other things while the front intake and rear fans perform most of the work.

This is due to having a large amount of cooler air being drawn in by the front fan with the rear blowing out the heated. The two fans work together for a one direction flow there. The fans on the side cover simply help move the air along.
