Trouble Overclocking My Core i7 920

I'm having a real trouble with overclocking my 920 with the Rampage 2 Extreme.

What are the issues you are having?

Well, I set it to 4.0 GHz and it just not stable, it restarts and nothing. The highest I had it was 3.4 from tweaking it with Asus' Turbo V. Other than that, nothing. I've done alot of research on it and copy everything they say but I get no where. Hmm. I know on the Rampage 2 there is a setting you have to turn off to OC your cpu past 3.6 i think. Which I do.

Ok so for me to get 4.0ghz I really have to crank the voltage.
You might be lucky and be able to run less but here are the settings. 20x multiplier with a 200 bclk. My cpu voltage is 1.55, my cpu pll is 1.93, my qpi dram is 1.375 and my dram bus is 1.66. What you should do is try 1.45 first and go from there. Try getting to the desktop and really watch your temps. I dont like going any higher than 78 or so.

Also if you are happy with a little less mhz you could go 20x 190bclk with only 1.35 volts for a result of 3.8ghz. The cpu gets really power hungry after 3.8ghz.

You can't simply put it at 4GHz and expect it to work, the fact is that the 920 stock is 2.66GHz, so even overclocking that to 3.4GHz is really good. You will just need to keep messing with the memory timings and voltages, and the CPU voltage.

Hmm, I don't want to just set it to 4.0, I've done a lot of messing around with it. But when i save changes it shuts off and than restarts but no video so than I have to shut if off and load defaults.

This is the website I go to, I have also found other sites but don't give to much information.
Actually, Do you think when I do try to OC it's just not my RAM that's not getting any attention?

I have no idea how to OC the i7's, but, take the ideas from OC'ing any other CPU. Start at where you're stable, which is 3.4, right? Then knock it up a little, to something like 3.5. If it isn't stable, raise the voltage. Then just repeat the steps.

Hmm, look at this. SO what should I put things too. This is what it is at now. 2.93. When I had it to 3.4 it was running fine till I put it underload. Than I got a BSOD. I just slowly kept turning up my BCLK Frequency to achieve 3.4, i forgot what I had the CPU voltage set to.

lol, Nope. Trying the settings you have no in the BIOS and then up them, I'm sure you'd have a much better chance at clocking that thing higher.

Like the other poster has mentioned you should just start from somewhere you know is stable and go from there. Maybe try a 170bclk with 1.25 volts on the core. (result of 3.4ghz)

well, i tried what you said and a variation of what I learn and it didn't shut off i just had no video. Right now i have it to 3.2. using cpu level up.
Why does my LCD poster say locked? Not right now but starting up?
