trying to save drivers to disc

I am trying to burn drivers downloaded from dell website to a disc so i can transfer to dell laptop (laptop can't access internet to do so) But when I try to save, file type iso, save to disc drive(E) it doesn't save to disc (when I open disc it says: no files)? I have tried to save in documents but that doesn't save files either and I can't find them under download folder either? btw, I am a novice.

A ISO has to be formatted properly onto the disc. Are you selecting the ISO burning option?

But you should still be able to save an ISO to the downloads folder It does seem to be an odd way to download drivers though. Usually drivers are on the maunfactuere's web site as downloadable files. I just save those to a folder I have made or to my downloads folder where they would go automatically and then burn them to disk. To burn an ISO you do need the correct burning software. I use CDBurnerXP from here:-

https://cdburnerxp.se/en/home

I know it says CDBurnerXP but that's just what its called. It works in all versions of Windows and you can burn an ISOI file to a DVD or CD using this program.

yes, i selected iso option. .... I had to first download syupport assistant from dell, but now an error message has popped up saying software pkg not available for machine type.... I am doing this on a compaq desktop computer. maybe I should try petes' link instead?

Just download the exe for each driver then put on USB flash.

That's what I was suggesting in my post 3. Downloading an ISO file for drivers is an odd way of doing it. As Johnb35 says download the exe files for the drivers. All that CDBurnerXP will do is give you an option to burn an ISO file to a DVD. It is an alternative to the Windows burning software, which in my opinion is a load of rubbish. That was why I gave you that alternative option with CDBurnerXP which is a free CD/DVD burning program. If you do decide to use CDBurnerXP be aware that there is a benign PUP that comes with it, Yahoo search engine. If you don't want that make sure you click "Idon't accept the offer."

When I hot download (vs ISO) it only gives me the option of installing once downloading (not saving) and I am not on the computer I want to install on. can you please tell me how to download the exe files? and can I dowload these to a disk?

What exact computer do you have? You can save all downloaded files to a folder and then just burn the folder to a cd but using a usb flash drive would be so much easier. It's not like you'll need it again until you reinstall the OS.

You don't need mess with an ISO. Just insert a blank disk in your computer, copy and paste the drivers to the disk under the My Computer icon where your optical drive is located at and Windows CD burner should burn the files to disk.

ISO's are meant more for OS's and games.

Agai, if I don't save a an ISO it only gives me the option to install, not save. I will try to copy and paste but right now I have downloaded filles as iso, when i try to save under a new folder I have created on desktop this is what happens: When I clock on desktop it gives me the option to save, but when I click on the folder it only gives me an "open" option.... can IO just save to desktop? Same thing happens when I try to save under documents, when I click on a folder option changes from save to open.

You have to open a folder first to be able to save. What specific machine do you have so I can help you.

Alll these are exe files, you download them and double click to run and then follow the prompts to install. Not sure which wireless card you have so thats why I listed both. Most have the dell wireless. Download each file and save to a flash drive.

I linked the wrong driver for the chipset, I edited my post to show the correct one. Just now caught it.

I am ready to give up and trash laptop....I have downloaded files onto a flash drive (some files said: All files were successfully unzipped, some said: one or more files were not successfully unzipped, error code 150)). When i put flash drive into laptop, and left click computer- manage- device manager- right click update driver (on yellow question mark drivers)- install from- search removable media. It cannot find any drivers top update on ANY of the yellow ? drivers.

All you do is double click the exe files to run them and it will install the drivers. Let us know what drivers are left after installing each one.
