1) When I finished my computer, I booted it up with my AGP card, an MSI NX7600GS-TD256Z, but the display had a bunch of lines through it during even the boot up screen, and wouldn't show any higher than 4 bit color. For the record I have a 500W power supply and my video card had a connection from the power supply. Both the card and motherboard use the 8x AGP version.
Is this because my graphics card is broken? If you require any other information to help me, I'd be more than happy to look it up.
2) The backup graphics card I'm using, a PCI based GeForce MX 4000, seems to be running fine except for every now and then the monitor blacks out for half a second. The intervals seem to be random and I can't quite derive a pattern from these disturbances. Why are these momentary blackouts happening?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
