Just use an application that has the option to burn image. Choose burn image and point it to the ISO.

a driver that supports your flavor or linux

Thanks man!

Do you have any programs that you can recommend?

Do you know where I can get a list of drivers for Ubuntu?

:)

for what burning an image file? I always have used Nero on Windows, K3b on Linux and the finder in OS X.

Hmm, Nero doesn't work in Vista

I downloaded something called 'Magic ISO', looks easy enough, so hopefully that'll work...

Oh, and... How do I go around getting my USB Adaptor to work again, plug it in, or do I need to DL some drivers and then transfer them over? Motox, Yeah, it's a Wireless USB Adaptor.

Thanks for the help guys, it's greatly appreciated! :)

Chances are it is supported out of the box. If not, head over to http://www.ubuntuforums.org and they can help you out. Chanced are, if it is not supported, someone had the same problem and a simple google search of the device name followed by ubuntu will lead you to a howto.

Alright, Excellent! Thanks for the help!

I'm putting it on an old Laptop, Can't remember the spec, something like a 1.2GHz Pentium, 384MB of RAM and some integrated graphics.

Make sure whenever you get Ubuntu ready, to go to "Themes" and put the less demanding theme (Ubuntu has a theme kidna like Aero for Vista and may make that old Laptop slow)

:)

You're welcome. :) I tried to put Ubuntu on my sister's comp but she didn't like it!

I was like "You know what?! format it back to XP yourself!" :P :P

BTW: you can burn an ISO image on a CD with "CDBurnerXP"

Haha! :P

My sis won't let me any-where near her laptop, even when I'm trying to help, it's riddled with virus' and spyware!

If you don't mind putting up with seeing an IE window opening up for buying the full retail version after each burn of an iso image I've been working with the free version of BurnOn for some time now. That includes varying distros downloaded in iso disk images as well as the Linux drive tool GParted. http://www.burnworld.com/burnoncddvd/

With a good brand of blank cd-rs you can get reliable burns with the free version. Eventually I will get the full retail version here since I am always running into a new distro or newer version of GParted to try out. In fact ubuntu 7.10 is presently the default OS here that then loads the dual boot loader for Vista/XP.

That's PC Eye, I'll check it out! :)

Yeah, I've got a sister...

I don't know if the integrated on the laptop will support the 3D Desktop...

This thing is ancient though, lol.

Is there any way I can check system specs with Ubuntu?

Thanks man! :)

What do you mean, like check the hardware specs of the laptop from with in the OS? There should be a hardware control panel you can access which lists all components installed.
