Upgrade for my rig?

In real world testing, the 4890 is similar in performance to a GTX275(And hence the reason the GTX275 and 4890 have such similar costs USD), so it beats a GTX260 core 216 overall too. Between that and the overclocks people have been getting(close to 1000mhz core, and gddr5 that overclocks like mad) id say the HD4890 is one heck of a card for the price:

NICE!

I think il go with that then,Will this Psu have the right power cords?

I think the 4890 requires a 8 pin and a 6 pin...which i think this psu has.

am i correct?
It appears as if its just got a single pcie 6pin. If your willing to spend 10 or so more... 600W modular ocz on sale atm:

But just an FYI, the 4890 uses two 6pin pci-e, might be thinking of the 4870x2 which uses an 8pin pci-e and a 6pin pci-e.

and that will work with that card?
Quality 600W like that ocz Should be plenty powerful to run that card;)

504W on the 12v rails, 504/12=42A total on 12v rails.

Oh, yes, the modxstream pro has two pci-e connectors;)

Thanks dude,Im going to order them then :) :good:

I compared the 4980 to my 8800GT on Gpu review.....its a slaughter :D

Doesnt seem 5 mins since the gt was a powerhouse.

Yeah, i remember when the 8800gt was nearly a $300 card. Graphics cards get new releases so fast... Have fun with the new gpu:P

Order placed!

Should be with me tommorow!

Thanks especialy to bomberboysk for finding me that wicked deal,And thanks to everyone else for your replies.

Cant wait to see this beauty in action :D

Just in my opinion, wouldn't you be better off running GTA IV with two GPU's in SLI/CrossFireX? It's a very demanding game and if the graphics load was shared, you might get a better frame rate

Sli and Crossfire dont work on GTA IV as of yet....and i doubt they will actualy do anything about it tbh.

Also to mention i dont have an SLI motherboard or i would have just got another Gt.

But no,i think ive done the right thing :)

Ah I didn't know that, thought game needed two GPU's to run well.

But otherwise yes, I agree with the one your getting. Should bring you great performance :)

i am buying 2 4890's (oc edtion) for crossfire, i think they are good value for money cards!

im sure you will be very happy

Installed my 4890 and new Psu.

What can i say....WOW.

The diffrence in GTA IV was like day and night compared to my 8800GT.

It looks much better,Especialy the lighting, scenery and Anti-ali.Theres no lag spikes anymore either and my framerates are fantastic.

I get 43-45fps in most places....60 is the highest ive seen it go so far but only played for a bit. (1680 x 1060 res) High graphics settings.

Il be posting some screenshots in the "Post your gaming screenshots" thread soon.

funkysnair, one of these on its own is a monster...running two in Crossfire will be fantastic i tell you now :good:

Realy happy with the purchase.

Only just noticed how much you payed for that!

Damn, lol now I know why you chose that over a 275, I was thinking you payed around £190
