Upgrading to an intel CPU with AMD motherboard

Sorry mate, you'd need a new board too. Intel chips won't work with AMD boards and vice-versa.

Why do you feel you need to upgrade? I'd say before you any sort of upgrade you likely need to replace the PSU as it is probably a cheap generic one knowing those people on eBay.

The AMD will do his job good enough. Also your gpu isn't that bad.

Also you can upgrade with the psu, since it's 750W. Look into your case to be sure of it.

I think the CPU should be fine, you could always upgrade to a more powerful GPU such as a 7850 or a 7870 once you've got yourself a better PSU.

It can be the psu isn't that bad. He has to look into his case to see the model number, brand and wattage before spending money on a new one.
It says 750W, but I don't trust the people on ebay as a blind.

Most likely it is a CIT 750W unit as the case is made by CIT, so it's not a great PSU at all and should be replaced before the GPU is upgraded.

Overclocking won't be too pleasent, appears to be a slightly newer version of my mobo which isn't the best overclocker, no matter the voltage (i've tried at least), doesn't boot my cpu past 3.8GHz so i have to reset the bios if i want to boot and my gpu fans are broken so the ones strapped on it block the reset and the battery so i have to remove the gpu to get it working again, just a pain.

No sence in putting the cart before the horse. A cooler can be moved or reused on an upgrade. Give an oc a try first.

Right now I'd go i5 3570K + Gigabyte GA-Z77X-D3H + Corsair CX 600 + Radeon HD 7850/7870

Would they all be compatible with my current parts, and maybe I'll take a miss on switching my graphics card, would the motherboard still work with my current GPU?

EDIT: Also, my RAM's 1300mhz, should I switch to 1600?

Yep the board will work with your current GPU, and so would the PSU.

Really though, I would upgrade your GPU and PSU before your CPU and board, unless you are desperate to go Intel and ditch your AMD.

Sorry about the stupid questions, but I HATE AMD processors, but if I purely wanted to improve gaming performance, should I just upgrade my GPU?

EDIT: Does the CPU matter that much for gaming?

CPU does matter, yes, but your FX-8120 should be fine for gaming, Overclock a little and it will be nicer still. :)

The graphics card is what you want to spend most on when building a gaming PC, so I'd say that yeah, if you want to improve gaming performance, your best bet would be a new GPU and PSU. A 7850/7870 and a Corsair CX 600 would be great and would work with your AMD setup just fine.
