Vista Registry tweak for monitor default?

I asked a while ago about having IE open specifically on designated monitors for certain applications and never found an answer, so I found another program that would run my Security Cameras outside of IE. :)

Only now the new program only opens in the first monitor and I have to manually move it each time. The program doesn’t have any advanced options and I’m using Vista. I looked in to the Shortcut properties to see if there was something in it to set the monitor, but nothing that i could see. :(

I know that IE will automatically load in the last monitor where it was closed so I’m thinking that maybe there is something I can set in the Registry to make that happen for another program.

Anybody know if maybe there might be an attribute or setting in the Registry that would force it to open on the second monitor?

I seem to remember that when I had a monitor connected to a laptop and used multiple displays when I moved a program to the external monitor and closed the program it would always load in the external monitor. Example: Open Excel and move it to the 2nd (extended monitor) and close it out and the next time you open Excel it will open in the 2nd monitor.

Here's what I've found. If you want an app to open on your secondary monitor by default do the following:
1. Open the application.
2. Re-size the window so that it is not maximized or minimized.
3. Move the window to the monitor you want it to open on by default.
4. Close the application. Do not re-size prior to closing.
5. Open the application.
It should open on the monitor you just moved it to and closed it on.
6. Maximize the window.
The application will now open on this monitor by default. If you want to change it to another monitor, just follow steps 1-6 again.

IF that doesnt work, resize and move it to where you want and use the EXIT function rather than close.

Hey thanks so much for replying Agent Smith. I was just about to give up any reply's and that is exactly the way it works in IE among other MS programs, but unfortunately it doesn’t work on this program from Lorex. Thanks anyway.

Ok Okedokey, I just gave that a try but it doesn’t work either.:)

I found this site on Windows Vista Registry Tweaks It had some interesting stuff but nothing for defaulting to a particular monitor.

Then I was thought I might be onto something when I found out about Windows Vista Shell Commands, but I may have to buy a book with them listed.
