Vista Vs Xp. Vista Wins.

I keep hearing about all this commotion about people bagging vista. I was one of em!

I just recently Purchased Vista Ultimate Edition, And too say the least.

I Love It.

For all those out there thinking of Upgrading, I Highly Recommend it.

It has been long enough for the Drivers to be supported, so thats not much of a problem.

I am Dual Booting Vista and Xp, That is the way too do it i think.

What does everyone else think?

If you have something bad too say about it, Proof?

Here Here , i think Vista Ultimate is the best thing of all in the world, or just even Vista, i think ppl who complain about vista have these things

1. not enough ram
2. Its a laptop (personally i think Laptops should run on XP)
3. parts are not updated to withstand Vista recomendations
4 .you just need to look harder for the drivers

so thats why

EXACTLY! Couldn of put it better myself.

yeah i love Vista...tbh the only problem ive ever had with it has been my graphics drivers,Well they never wanted to work properly so when i took screenshots they looked all messed up but they were ok on my system.

i also have Ultimate & Xp pro dual booted but i probably wont make Vista my main os until i get a new rig.

i like how Vista automaticly finds the drivers for you...unlike Xp it installed my Audio drivers and printer driver itself where as in xp i have to manualy download them and install:)

Yea its good hey, What graphics card was that with?

Mine BSOD'ed on its first good after installing GPU Driver....

Hell I don't mind Vista on my laptop. I have 2gb RAM so I'm doing fine in that department, and it does what I want to do faster than my desktop ever did. So, even for laptops Vista is a good thing to have...oh and its so nice and clear!

ok, but your one of the lucky ones, who didnt get suckered into a laptop with vista home premium 32-bit, 1gb of ram, possibly an AMD mobile dual core, and, because those are the only things NORMAL people think about, they also get something like an nvidia 6150 GO... that is the exact same kind of laptop that is tearing up vistas good name all across the world. personally, i had to reinstall it once, but now, WOW everything runs just as fast as xp did, and i havent had to lower any one of my games ever

its with my 9600 Pro...the drivers are bad i think.

i think ati just havnt bothred making decent drivers my the 9600 series because its so old which is bad realy because people do still use them:)

i can tell vista would be nice if i had a faster machine

but it really drags my old p4 down to unacceptable levels of performance

and the constant hard disk activity is over the top

it used to constantly use my hard drive all the time on mine but since i re-installed it it hasnt been bad at all which is wierd.

ive noticed with Vista everythings much quicker like when your installing software and stuff.

i will definatly switch to use vista as my main os when i get a new system but for now Xp is staying my main.

the only disadvantages in vista for me is

*Slower at booting (yeah my system):D
*Ati drivers are not good for my card in Vista
*System temps are higher for some reason in vista than Xp when idle
(Maybe because my rig has to work harder:D)

My boot time is about 11 Seconds

I have a similar computer to yours at work and vista takes about 5 minutes to fully boot where its not constantly paging the hard drive and will run at full speed.

Vista is a horrid OS, reminds me of WindowsME. I have stated the reasons why it sucks over and over again, just search for vista and my name on this forum you will see your answers.

Vista is amazing, I don't care how much people bash it.

wait so can some one explain how vista ran on that machine?...i mean i m in awe that thing is a POS and it runs faster then my rig does with xp????

It takes that long , only takes me like 10secs to fully boot (no paging)

Even on my rig, Vista runs pretty smoothly. Now I don't play games on it, but when I did I noticed a 10-15 fps drop from Xp.. But then again like mentioned earlier ATI doesn't do much for older drivers. Also Vista boots just as fast as XP did..
I agree, Vista easily defeats XP, even with my rig.. I mean it looks 10x nicer than XP with minimum slow down.
I think that Transformation pack for XP doesn't do no where near enough justice to the true Vista.

Edit: Ok I timed my boot, it only took 1min and 25seconds with my system which is fast enough for me.. Also btw I had Windows ME and to even compare Vista to ME.. is pretty sad..

Personally, I refuse to upgrade my OS until a service pack has been released. So I will likely upgrade in a year or so. Too many problems pre-service pack. It's nice but it's so bulky. I'm not ready to change yet.

Okay, it takes from powering on, about 25 to 30 seconds to get into the OS, and then once all my apps load and vista starts messing with virtual memory it takes about 3 minutes (5 was an exaggeration I guess).

My system at work is

HP dx5150 business class desktop
AMD3500+
2Gig DDR ram
PCI-e radeon x800
120gig SATA2 drive

Now, if I load lets say Linux on that with beryl+compiz desktop manager which is way better looking than vista's Aero, it takes up way less resources and is more responsive.
