Vistakid, advice please.

It does sound good. But best to keep an open mind. I have to keep in mind that there is parts I need for school too. I may be able to find one that is reasonable when I have the money, but worse case it would be 2 months before I get something. I would think there may be more going up for sale at the end of summer too, as that is when college students are going to work and such.

It's worth just keeping an eye on eBay and seeing if anything decent pops up. You may be able to get something similar to it for even cheaper at a later date, you never know.

That is what I am thinking. Every now and again there is a great deal on there. The D630 was averaging 250+ from what I would consider reliable dealers (if you ask them what graphics card it has and they say 80GB then I do not consider them reliable), but the one I got popped up at $150 and fairly high specd (high res, NVS, 7200 RPM) right when I was getting ready to drop 250 on it. Saved me enough for the docking station I never use.

But yea, I am going to keep an eye out, but I may end up going with a new one if I can. Just don't know yet.

OK, well let me know what you eventually end up getting. I think I've probably pretty much given much all the help I can. Any questions let me know. :)

okay, the M90 is apart. Was surprising. Everything was where I thought it would be. No hug screws, no stripped screws, and no hidden screws. Took all of 5 minutes, and it needed it. I am going to go hunt a tool to take off the heatsink so I can repaste it with AS5. not doing the CPU though, as it runs cool as is.

this is the CPU end. fairly clean.

this end is GPU strait to the fan, and it is filled with gunk.

%$@* it. I do not have a T5 bit to take it off. Well, next trip to the store I will get one. Its cleaned up now, so going to reassemble and see how it goes.

Damn that GPU heatsink looks like it could do with a good dusting down. Once you have it all dusted down, as you say, reassemble it and see it how it goes. It should be a bit cooler and it should run smoother overall too.

I have it reassembled. Waiting to boot up right now. Forgot that I wtill have not fixed the bootloader, so getting
Code:
 error: file not found
grub rescue>
Ill fix that up and fun a benchmark to see how much it is better. Hoping it did not damage the card.

If you were careful and properly grounded then the card should be OK.

Let me know how it does...

I was more on about the heat as friday it was artifacting. But 2 rounds on MW3 shows no frame droop and no artifacts. I will test farther after I hang with Britnie.

Yeah if you get your M90 up and running nicely then you may not need in in the long run I guess.

I can use it a lot longer till I can save up for a better one.
True. The M6400 would be a good choice for the money and so on, but it may be nicer for you for have an entirely new machine. I still like the look of that W530 myself.

I do too. I like the look of thinkpads. Now if only I could get one with Chrome plate on it. lol.

Ah ThinkPads don't usually have 'fancy' exteriors. ;) The TP Edge is the only one I know of which has a glossy lid and screen, the rest are kinda bland but I quite like the 'blandness' myself. :)

I was not clear, the fault is mine. Hmm... This may turn out to be an epic plan. I am going to get a A20m or the like to test the idea first though.
