Well played Sony, losing more customers.

How stupid can you get... Releasing it AFTER Christmas is a ridiculous move to take, especially when it's going to be so expensive.

I haven't bought a single sony product since my PS2, and I think overall most of sony's stuff is over priced and crap in general.

I will not buy a PS3 until the price drops to like 200ish dollars, so like a long time from now.

same here, thats why i said maybe next christmas alot of kids will have these, im gonna wait til the price drops also, and wait til all the problems with them are fixed, im sure their gonna have some :o ..

the best buy i work at is getting a display model very soon :D

its gonna be so sweet.. im gonna be like the first one to try it out, and im definitely gonna get one the day it comes out... i know for a fact its gonna be released in our store before november 24th (we call it black friday since its the day after thanksgiving, everyone goes christmas shopping) haha it happens to be my birthday too :)
my brother works at FYE (new name for Media Play) and he told me theyre gonna have it november 17th...

lol i duno if any of you watched the trailer for the system, but the new controller is the same shape and size as the old one except its got like motion sensors in it and stuff for flight simulators or something... i hope you can change that cause it doesnt seem like i'd like that..

600 dollars for a PS3 + 80 to 100 for the adapter if your TV doesn't support blu ray.

I'd rather just get a new tv and buy a Wii instead

Im not gonna be getting the Ps3 anyway.

Im more into Pc gaming now so i would rather spend my money on a nice gaming rig.

yea some people would prefer that, but some people are hardcore gamers and they want the best of the best when it comes to graphics... and sony PS3 is going to be really the only gaming system that support 1080P HD graphics... and blu-ray and such... it also supports blue-tooth and such... and honestly i dont know if its going to be priced at $600 but i assure you some people are going to end up paying $1000 online and stuff just to assure they get it before other people... im probably going to wait awhile but if a deal comes along for me then im getting it...

i do like pc gaming better too though... but the PS3 is going to be more powerful than any PC for some time probably... cell processor = 2 teraflops... thats a lot. actually thats more than twice as powerful as a core 2 XE X6800 of course... different benchmarks give different results... w/e

I understand that the 360 will be in the future as well.

but the PS3 is going to be more powerful than any PC for some time probably...

This is what they have been saying since the release of the PS2. If it's ahead of PC's it wont be for long. Meanwhile I'm going back to playing Resident Evil on my Dreamcast now.

Games don't need to be expensive and graphics intensive to be fun.

the XBOX 360 supports HD but not 1080P which is the better type of HD.... if they changed that then the hardware would have to be different, making it a different console... they would have to rename it.

from what i understand future gaming will be able to criss cross from each console to the pc... at least thats what best buy tells me. the pamphlet i recieved says this:
"Sony has branded their new PS3 as thre "Ultimate Gaming Machine" and with great reason seeing as how it is the only machine to offer true HD 1080p picture and 7.1 digital surround sound via its HDMI 1.3 connection. Pair that up with a Blu-Ray drive, bluetooth capabilities, online functionality via both ethernet and WiFi, 2 versions (ala Xbox 360) offering different levels of experiences and price points to match, access to the only 100% FREE online gaming arena and full backwards compatibility for all previous PlayStation and PSP hardware and you've got the gaming mega-colossus called PS3."
so, unlike the Xbox Live, PS3's online gaming will be completely free. :P take that Microsoft!

also in the pamphlet given to best buy employees:
"other companies will try to cut Sony down saying that their PS3 costs way too much money compared to its competition. Sony's response is simple; the customer is not only getting the best gaming machine on the market today, but a Blu-ray player to boot - that is easily a $600 savings."
in my opinion... not everyone wants to spend that much on a system, but a lot of people do! (like me! lol) i mean i plan on getting an HDTV and a PS3 in the next few months, and probably some 5.1 or 7.1 speakers... i'll see how much money i make and how much money i need to spend elsewhere...

if you like i can take a few pictures of the pamphlet :D its got stuff in there about the Wii, microsofts plans on pc and Xbox 360 gaming, EA's strategy, and Sony as well...

You missed the fact that I said it is going to be... As in short future ;). They are coming out with the patch for the current console ;). They are also releasing an HD-DVD player just for kicks.

Microsoft isnt taking sides in the format war btw... they're releasing HD DVD players and Blu ray players for the xbox 360. costing more and more money... lol
oh and a patch for the 360 means you also have to have xbox live, costing more money. haha and a hard drive for the thing too, my friend doesnt have one for his.

hmmm, not exactly a wise move from sony, but then, if you think about it, all of this publicity is getting word of mouth going a lot. This is all free advertising for them. And tis not exactly bad, somethign that price has its customers and its non-customers, at that price no amount of marketing is ever going to change the non-cutomers into customers. So all of this advertising is just enhancing the already great support for the PS3.

Dont get me wrong, i DO think tis way overpriced, even for a blu-ray player aswell (quoted in the bestbuy leaflet) i still dont hink its worth it, a massive company like sony could probably produce their own BD players for a fraction fo the price and not have to have so much % markup on them.

Again, you could look at it in a way that haing such a high price tag is sectioning the PS3 into a league of its own, its for the elite and noone else, ony the best can have it. Which is a good thing

I would like to add that i am not planning to buy a PS3, in about 6 weeks im spending £900 ($1700 USD) on a new PC, so this is definately out of it. I have a PS2 if i ever want to go semi-retro and play some Tekken or Hitman:C47....

This rivalry between consoles i think is utterly pointless, i mean c'mon, the Wii is way out of everything elses league, its a childs play thing, a family toy, its not a feesible future console, it will be short lived just like every other nintendo creation. The Xbox 360 compared to the PS3 is still a long way off, the PS3 is a whole nother stage higher than the 360, so MS are bringing out "add-on" players for the 360, not quite as good as having it all integrated and built in is it... sort of ruins the sleek sexy look of your expensive console...

My my, that was a rather long rant.... One point turned into evaluation of 6 others, lol

ah well, dragon

Yes, but will be it be any good compared to Live? Being free does not mean that it will be good.

I don't think I need to say anymore...

im gonna be like the first one to try it out, and im definitely gonna get one the day it comes out

Contradiction? I think so...

Microsoft isnt taking sides in the format war btw... they're releasing HD DVD players and Blu ray players for the xbox 360. costing more and more money... lol
I was under the impression that MS is backing HD-DVD, but I'd love to see a source that says otherwise.

oh and a patch for the 360 means you also have to have xbox live, costing more money. haha and a hard drive for the thing too, my friend doesnt have one for his.
Actually, Xbox Live Silver is free and Live Gold is $50 a year. No offense to your friend, but he's kinda stupid for not getting the premium version of the 360...

I could be wrong, but I smell a fanboy or a MS hater...

RE4 for the game cube is one of the best games I have played in several years. I actually beat all the extra content on the game, and then played it through again on the hardest level of difficulty and unlocked everying on the hardest level.

Most games I get bored after beating it once.

Graphics does not mean best game ever.

Heck, the fall out games are still some of my favorite to play and they are old school. They don't make games like that anymore.
