none taken, i think so too.
i guess ill have to decide whether i want PS3 by playing the display model in store...
im an enthusiast. i like high end graphics. for me, it does mean best game ever.
i cant cite any sources, except the pamphlet...
im not sure if its true... but thats what the pamphlet that i recieved at work said.
nintendo must be after the family market... probably bigger than any other market there is. of course, personally i think that it doesnt matter because who plays video games in families other than teenagers - teenagers who want the coolest stuff...
your right though, i think its a childs toy... just like the gamecube... cheesy graphics, quick cheesy gameplay, easy to learn and probably more attractive to a mother who wants to buy a gaming system so her family can spend time together... they named it "Wii" pronounced "We" meaning "us" or implying that people ought to play it together... its a cheap family gaming system meant for a budget fun-time...
again out of the pamphlet.
wow i really like this thread. haha
Its not like the Wii is going to have stick figures dancing around with 8 bit sprites running @ 5 fps.
A lot of the younger people may not really realize this, but blu ray is going no where. It is way too costly and doesn't even make sense at this time for its release. I can list a TON of technologies that have come out like this and failed.
The fact that Sony wants to replace everything in your entertainment system in one box is kind of an asinine idea. If one thing breaks on the playstation then you must go out and buy a whole new PS3 to replace your, DVD player, digital audio receiver, digital media player, etc.
I am not saying the PS3 is a bad idea, I am saying the market is no where near ready for it, and with its hefty price tag and expensive games on their godly expensive and unecessary media (blu ray) it has a good chance of failing.
Not to mention IBM has a history of making failed processors. They weren't bad products, they were just marketed wrong.
I will remain completely skeptical until I see it succeed for a few years.
Meanwhile, the wii offers unique gameplay, still good looking graphics, and its affordable. The developer kit is just over $1,000 which means all kinds of developers will have cheap easy access to make titles. There is no way this system will be limitied, to what you are calling "family games"
How much does a company have to pay for a PS3 dev kit? Then expect to sell games at $75.00 each?
