Ok so if you remove the primary drive when the computer on, it will crash (obviously), however as APJ said it shouldn't cause any permanent damage, except for maybe a few corrupt files if it was writing to them while it was disconnected.correctly assumed ^^ only have 1 in my pc atm
I don't think they do unless you are running the controller in AHCI mode.Most current SATA drives/motherboards allow SATA drives to be hot swappable
