What is going on with my scanner?

I have an HP Envy 5530.

I try to scan a whole page, and it comes out like this....

This should be a whole page, and this picture is just what is in the top corner of the page.

It has happened other times, too.

That is a 1 inch by 1 inch picture in the corner of the page.

It's an HP, what do you expect? lol.

My guess is that something is wrong with the scanner itself, it must only recognize that there is something in that corner instead of the full page. Have you tried unplugging and waiting a few minutes and plugging it back in? Also tried uninstalling and reinstalling printer?

I called HP tech support and they fixed the problem by telling me to use MS Paint to capture the scan image.
