When you overclock...

If you don't touch the voltage, but just raise the CPU Frequency (Using Asus Program Suite). Should the temperature go up?

I began the quest of the 2.93ghz Intel E6600. I am at 2.66ghz right now (2.40 stock) and have raised the idle temp 2-3C. Going from 33-34 - 35-36.

Should I even touch the voltage? Does that have anything to do with performance?

EDIT: I am noticing now that... when I increased "CPU Frequency" it has raised the voltage from 1.32 to 1.34

Your Core Voltage shouldn't adjust except if you adjust it, make sure that the voltage is set to manual instead of auto.

The temps will rise slightly when just increasing the speed, but the main thing that raises temperatures is increasing voltages. Just increase the FSB until you can't go anymore, then up the voltage slightly until it is stable at that speed. Don't up the voltages too much though!

Also, your overclock will be much more stable if you use the BIOS instead of overclocking in windows

Overclock your cpu to 2.93 without changing the cpu volts or memory. e6600 should overclock up to 3.0ghz without changing the vcore. I overclockinged it to 3.0ghz without messing the vcore. And if you want to overclock it higher then 3.0ghz then thats when you change the vcore.

I don't know how to do it through the bios... I tried finding it but I couldn't quite figure it out.

You have the p5b board it might not be the same as p5w board with the bios.

Sorry man... I don't want to sound like a douche but that doesn't help me much. haha

I don't see options for the FSB, Frequency, Voltage, nothing... how would I find out how to overclock through the bios?

Your mobo manual should tell you how to find all the stuff in BIOS.

pro the conroe at least not mine cant reach 3.00 without up the vcore.I mean 3.0 with being stable. And you only did 1 hour test or yours and you need to do like 12 hours to make sure 100%.

actually I had it run for 5 hours until I stop it. And it said it ran for 5hours and so min and 0 errors and 0 warning.
