Which one is better at stock speeds? Please explain your answer below.
Taking a look there the conroe beats out the amd by a slim margin on most of the tests. Though this is the 6400 as they didn't have benchmarks for the 6300. So guessing that amd will beat out the 6300 but probably not with some overclocking on the intel. Though the 6300 is $100 cheaper so go with the intel.

Yea, I got your PM. I think I've decided to sell my computer locally though.
Core 2 Duo is cheaper and beats the 4800+ on most tests...
Havent seen any where the 6300 beats the X2 4800+ stock clock

yea well that link says the 3800+ beats the X6800...![]()
Ya, but considering the $100 price jump it is not worth it because you can just overclock the 6300.
He said stock clock
I don't see the point of overclocking when the gain is only a couple hundred meg at the 2.0G and up range. You put a strain on everything for something you will only see in a bench test.

at stock speeds, the 4800+ is indeed faster.
also, the 4800+ consumes less power, concluding it's either much more power effective, or most likely, it runs a lot cooler.

( funny.. in the idle power consumption, the 2 different cores used for the X2's is quite noticeable)
so in my oppinion, get the AMD. sure,.. the Intell can be overclocked to the same performance as them AMD,. but the AMD can be overclocked too.
