I honestly dont know crap about CPU speed and that stuff so im just checking with the pros

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 or Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 3.0GHz
and if the dual core is better Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 2.66GHz or the quad core

At this very moment the e6850 is faster than the quad when single or dual apps are involved. The coding of many games and apps are still missing good multi-threading code, so the faster chip wins.

When programmers and developer get off their colective asses and design better, more efficient programs then you'll see the quad take the lead. Should happen soon, I hope.

Well for the same price as the E6850 you can OC your Q6600 to well over 3.0Ghz, making 4 cores at the same speed as the two.

Even if you arent running quad threaded apps I believe the quad core would perform better, with or without the overclock if you're even running two applications that are each dual core enabled.

A simple OC and 4 cores > 2
