i personally stiil work on window xp.

I dual boot with with Linux Ubuntu 8.10 and Windows Vista Basic 32-bit. I use Linux mostly for the Internet but there are programs Linux can't run so that is when I use my Windows.

I triple boot vista, ubuntu and OSX on my laptop, I have a card with BackTrack 3 on it as well. Desktop runs 7. Plus I have a few test machines around with Ubuntu server and XP. They all serve their own purpose, don't care too much for one over the other.

Unix or Linux for the most part, or some version of Unix or Linux. I hate windows more and more the older I have gotten. If Windows went to a straight POSIX set of permissions for security and got rid of the registry I think I would like it better. I am all about self contained applications.

XP is alright on my laptop. It's really been screwy on my desktop as of late, so I can't wait to get my copy of Windows 7 installed on there.

I prefer Windows 7. I haven't used any Linux OS so I'm not going to say how good those are. But from the ones I've used, Windows 7 does it for me.

I consulted cleverbot, and this was it's response:

User: What is the best computer operating system?

Cleverbot: The best computer is EVE.

User: OK, what about the Operating System?

Cleverbot: It's in the log.

User: What OS do you prefer?

Cleverbot: The one you're using.

User: Oh my god! What OS am I using?

Cleverbot: Windows xp.

User: You couldn't be any more Wrong, I am using OS X 10.5.8.

Cleverbot: I'll bet I could.

User: So what is the best operating system?

Cleverbot: Linux, of course.

User: Sudo agt-get remove cleverbot.

Cleverbot: No, you're just Cleverbot.

User: I removed you sucka, not go rm -rf yourself.

Cleverbot: Wrong. You are joan. I am rich.

Go figure

tlarkin, couldn't help but chuckle at the command lines there. I use 9.04 ubuntu and XP 32-bit home. Waiting for another computer to upgrade to 7.

I use, windows xp sp3, PClinuxos, vista no sp, Windows 7 64bit, Mythbuntu on htpc comp, emachine running mac osx tiger or one old one not sure what and about 25 different linuxs on cd that i use live.

Ubuntu, I used to use XP but I'm so happy I switched over

Ubuntu 8.10 is a very good operating system. I can't wait until they release Ubuntu 9.10. Streaming movies off the Internet from Netflix doesn't work with Linux Ubuntu presently and the DVD player I use doesn't work well with my video card. Other than the old video games I play on occasion I use Ubuntu for a lot of activity on my system.
