Hey guys/gals! I am building my dad a new computer and we have all the pieces picked out except for the PSU. We have narrowed our search down to these three PSUs. Could anyone give me some advice as to which one is better. All three PSUs are from OCZ as they are having a MIR sale and my dad is on a tight budget.
*Prices are in Canadian funds
1. OCZ 600W ModXStream Pro Power Supply ---($60 after MIR) ($83 Regular)
2. OCZ 550W Fatal1ty Series Power Supply ---($50 after MIR) ($71 Regular)
3. OCZ 550W Z-Series -----------------------($52 after MIR) ($88 Regular)
The ModXStream has a bigger 140mm fan.
The Z-series PSU has a 5 year warranty over the 3 year warranty of the other units however I don't think the Z-Series 550W PSU is module and I really hate not having a module PSU. It also only has 4 sata connectors over the 6 sata connectors the other two PSUs have. It is however the most money at the regular price, has that nice 5 year warranty, and is 80 Plus Silver Certified (Ultra-High Efficiency over 88%).
The Fatal1ty has a 135mm fan and is of course endorsed by some gamer guy but I could care less about that.
We are leaning more towards the ModXStream ATM due to the bigger 140mm fan and module design however if the Z-Series 550W is much better we can live with the 4 sata connectors and non-module design.
