who's responsible?

well.. ive recently bought a new cpu Fan (coolermaster dual storm).
its not a month old. I bought it, cuz it had 2 fans, so in case of failure my cpu would still be cooled.
but now, 1 blade of the front fan broke by normal use. it hit a second blade of the first fan, so that 2nd blade blocked the first fan. the first piece was found in the 2nd fan. so both fan's were blocked at the same time.
i wasnt in my room when it happend (was away for 3 hours). when i came back, i started IL2 FB (combat flight sim.) i played about 5 min when it started to smell like fried components. i emediately pulled the plug, and screwed open the case. when i looked, i saw comming smoke behind the cooling block. half the cooling paste wasnt white anymore. and when i restarted it (after half an hour) the Led's kept being red (diagnostic led system) and when i pulled off the cpu, the sticker at the back was completely black.

what i wanted to ask, who is respnsible for this? I mean. the Fan broke down by normal use. :( shall i go back to the shop where i bought it? (Mediamarkt) or should i try it by coolermaster itself?

if you had nothing to do with the damage i'd imagine that the fan manufacturer would be responsible... you have to get into contact with them to find out what you can do about it

a similar thing happened to me this month too! i got a gigabyte 3d rocket cooler and it didnt work properly so it fried my CPU and MoBo. i e mailed the place were i bought the rocket cooler and they said its not their problem, so i phoned intel and got them to give me another processor ( i didnt tell them that it was the gigabyte fan that broke it or they woulndt have givem me a new one) when i got the cpu i was happy, put it in but still not workin--- realised that the MoBo was burnt out too....sending it away tomorrow to get a replancment. such a waste of time- wish id never have bought the new cooler- my stock one was fine!!!

I would go back to the shop and complain.. Next i would want the shop to work with me and confirm the fan was New... and together with the shop get the company that made the fan to replace the broken burnt components..... They are insured...

thank you all for the reply's :)
ill go back to the shop in a few hours, and ill hope everything turns out right.

Your saying the blade broke of out of pure gravity, without any physical influence what so ever?
That's gotta be a first hehe..

Sounds Like you got the "Evil Green Men In My PC" Virus. Better get rid of them before they cocky and use your video card as a trampoline.

The HSF maker is responsible. Whether they send you a new CPU/mobo is questionable though

i dont think they wll reply.. ive send 2 mails,. but never heard anythin anymore... :(

Bah. wirst you buy a veryexpensive cooler. so you think you can overclock your pc safely.. and then the cooler breacks, and i dont get a reply..

If the fan broke alone, the manufacturer is responsible...

It's a good idea to visit the shop, that way you know

what kind of service you can expect from them...
