Why Are We Pimping Out Our Computers?

So is pimping your computer out primarly considered a looks issue or is upgrading performance considered pimping out your computer?

One thing I personally like is seeingthe fans light up in a dark case; makes them stand out.... The only downside with my Compaq case is that it doesn't have a window so the lights show up as little blue dots, through the vent holes, on my dresser..... I had much rather not have LED lights on my fans unless I had a window......

On the other side though, it makes it look like something's running in there. I really didn't have a choice of LED fans or not......
 
People pimp their computer to make it go faster. It's the same mentality as putting the rigs in signatures and putting gay ass effects on a Civic or Cavalier. They still only go 50MPH tops in 3.5 minutes, but they look like they can outrun a Charger. (heh, that was reminding me of a convo I had with a cop that actually drove a Charger and chased those idiots. He had a few not so nice things to say about them).

I dunno. People do dumb things. I use mine. I don't usually sit there staring at the lights. Could just be me.
