Looks like a bad hard drive or bad sectors and its going to fail soon...do you just have one hard drive installed?

Usually you're lucky and either windows notifies you or your bios, but yeah I'd back everything up...is the PC worth saving? I see in your bios that it is an eMachines...how much would you willingly put into it?

it's my only PC that I have at home... it's going on 3 years... I've actually been thinking about getting a different computer with a better CPU. I was planning on upgrading this one

If you're able to reinstall windows with recovery discs, you can get a hard drive will under $100. If you arent able to do that then it will not be worth purchasing windows and a hard drive.

Thank you for the advice. I am currently backing up files right now. I need to figure out something here.

Thank you again :good:

Lately I've been feeling puzzled, I would like a better computer.

I mainly use my computer for Editing Pictures, Streaming with Plex Media Server and everyday usage.

With this still going on I have been thinking of solutions to help improve my computer.

Technically I would prefer an intel CPU. This can't happen with this MOBO as it currently has an AMD CPU.

So I believe I will need a HDD + a better CPU and maybe new RAM to activate dual channel. (I don't know if it's worth the hassle)

I then began thinking today that maybe a combo pack with a new MOBO+CPU would be good. (I can then just use the case and drives that are currently on my emachines) + I would need an OS.

and last, but not least I also then began thinking about a laptop to get rid of all the wires that I currently have. This would then of course be an intel laptop

My mind is puzzled!

It seems you got an am3/am2+ board, so maybe just upgrade to a phenom II x4 955/965.
They are still pretty good and will give you a nice improvement over your current.
You can get it very cheap nowadays.

The only thing that I'm worried about is the max TDP of your board, can you give me the model number?

I'm currently away from home, but when I do get home I will post it. Thank you for the reply
