my wifi driver in win 11 needs to be updated.
norton wants 60 bucks a year to do it so im asking if i can do it myself for free?

thanks

Usually the support section of your manufacturer has a box where you can type in the model and get the drivers.

If you know the chipset (intel, broadcom, etc) then you can get them from those vendors specifically.

Open device manager, go into network adapters tell us what it says for wireless hardware. You can also right click on that device and click on update driver and follow the prompts.

it says Realtek 8821CE Lan802 11ac PCI-ENIC
it says the driver is working and is the best for this device.

ive found post were people with Norton antyvirus are haveing the same issue. -ENIC
seems like norton is causing this to happen so i will pay 60 bucks a year.
ive read that there is a replacement for this driver.
is pc helpsolft driver updater safe to use?
im pretty sure its not free so is there a way to get the replacement for free? if so how would i do that?

thanks for the info

You need a new wifi device as the one you have is very outdated. Last driver update was 8 years ago. Is this for a desktop or laptop? If a laptop then you would need a new usb wifi adapter and if desktop you can get a pcie adapter. How old is this computer anyway? If driver is that old then I highly doubt the pc is compatible to windows 11.

And to be honest, you really don't want nortons on your system as its a resource hog. You can actually do a lot better by using Malwarebytes as your virus/malware scanner. You can either use the free version as an on demand scanner or purchase the software for 44.99 a year for 1 pc or 59.99 a year for up to 3 pc's. Most people just use the built in windows defender as their scanner.

I bought this laptop in July 2026. brand new. it has windows 11
from eBay and its a SGIN-M15
made in China im sure just like all of them.
last update on this Wi-Fi driver 8 years ago is kind of weird
so, if i drop Norton will windows defender take over automatically, it will work without norton,i'll bet on it.
ive used Malwarebytes in the past so i will look into your suggestion.

Now that you gave the model number, that specific model was released July 2022 so its 4 years old. Celeron processor and only 4gb ram so its a very low end machine. Not surprising that old hardware was used. You can try using a usb wifi adapter, that should fix your wifi issues. And its also possible that nortons is causing your network connection issue. Uninstall nortons and see if that helps.

sounds good, is there any certain type of usb wifi adapter i need for this pc?
i see they are somewhat different, i know i need it for win 11 and thats all i know

thanks for your help

Just make sure its compatible with windows 11. I could recommend something but not sure where you are from or where you shop at for electronics.

i decided to drop Norton and go with Bitdefender. now my WI-FI adapter is working fine.
i went with Bitdefender because i read its considered as good as Norton and maybe even better in some ways
I think Norton is just not fully rite for windows11 because i have it on a windows10 pc and it works fine.
if they are making wi-fi drivers act up so people buy their products its certainly corrupt like our government
i did order a usb wi-fi driver like suggested but doesn't look like i need it

Thanks for the help Johnb35

Norton has historically had issues with adapters, especially when uninstalling. Even 20 years ago they had to make a utility to repair the network stack after uninstallation among various other finicky issues.

Me again: after switching from Norton to Bitdefender my Wi-Fi was starting when the pc came on but now i usually have to click it to manually connect to Wi-Fi
so i have a usb adapter that came with a disc but my cheap laptop doesn't have a tray.
the adapter says driver free and i figured it meant plug and play buy i guess i was wrong.

if i had a pc with a tray i think i could load the driver then transfer it to a stick and then plug it in my laptop that does have a usb plug

is there any other way?

When you manually connect to the wifi, there should be a box that says "connect automatically". You need to check that box and everytime you start the computer it will connect automatically.

Can you provide the exact model of usb wireless adapter you bought so we can get you to where you need to download the driver for it?

i got it on ebay and all it says is its a RENGOGA AC600 wi-fi adapter for windows11

as far as the automatic check box is its always been checked. the thing is the wifi adapter in the pc is outdated and does not work rite even thow the pc says its the rite one and no update available.

thanks

As far as I can tell with an online search your new usb adapter will auto install the driver once its plugged in. You won't need to access the cd.

thats what i thought driver free meant but when i plug it in the pc rings but then does nothing at all
i disable the WI-fi adapter in the pc first

anything i can do?
