I would really appreciate some input. I had an older Dell Dimension 3000, Hyper-thread 3.0MHz, with a 160GB hard drive and 1 gig of ram. I got interested in flight simulations and games, and bought the yoke, throttle, rudder pedals and joy stick from Saitek. All installed and calibrated perfectly. Then I found out the hard way the graphics card wouldn't run the new games. I tried to upgrade the graphics card, but I only had PCI slots. Everyone I asked said I would have to get a newer computer.
So, I bought a new Dell Studio XPS, 1 T hard drive, 8 G of ram, 64 bit platform, Windows 7 Home, with the i7 processor and a high-end graphics card. Guess what? The yoke, throttle, rudder pedals and joystick will not work with the new computer, won't calibrate at all. I have access to Windows 7 Ultimate, in either 32 bit or 64 bit.
Will installing the 32 bit solve the problem? Can I do that as an upgrade without losing everything on the computer? Or do I have to wipe the drive and start all over?
Does the 64 bit thing just refer to the OS, or is there something that would affect the actual hardware?
I have to get a new printer as my older and very good one isn't compatible with 64 bit.
Any input would be really appreciated.
