Windows 7 32-bit to 64-bit

Hello there
I have recently acquired a laptop which has very good specifications, but a 32 bit installation of windows 7. I do not have the product key for this computer, neither do I have the disc for it. Does anyone have any ideas what I should do?

You can download MagicJellyBean, install it and run it. It will provide you with your current Windows (and other) licence keys.

You can then download and install via DVD / USB Windows 7 64 bit from these links (legitimate from MS).

Windows 7 64-bit Professional x64 English
Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium X64 English

Some computers will have the windows product key on the back as a sticker

OK, i'm just about ready to do the procedure. I just need to check some things:
I have the iso file on a pendrive with nothing else on it
I have the product key noted down on paper
Is there anything else I need to do?

have you just moved the iso file to the pendrive, or did you burn it on the pendrive?

Use this to make a bootable installation USB drive out of the ISO:
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/windows-usb-dvd-download-tool

If you just moved the ISO over as a file it won't do anything.

Just use the Microsoft utility. It's the easiest to use and will do just what you need.

I used the windows iso to usb thingy and it said it wasnt bootable... HELP!!

The WIndows Utility is garbage.

Download Rufus from the link above, point to the ISO, point ot the USB and ensure it burns as a ISO. Boot from USB.

Sorry that i've been of the forum for the past wee while. I have been busy with exams etc so that I couldnt come on and talk. Is there any way that I could do this on an SD card? I tried to write to it, but apparently it wasnt bootable...HELP!

Its done in exactly the same way. Download RUFUS and use it.

Why you don't avoid all that grief and make a bootable ISO on a DVD-R/DVD-RW, there are certain computers that will not boot an OPS with an USB drive or any other drive but DVD-R or
DVD-RW,
my HP DV-5 wont boot on USB.
