Windows 7 Install Freezes

I've been trying to get this to work all day. I posted in some other threads but to prevent changing the subject I just made my own.

My problem: I'm trying to install Windows 7 with a burned ISO DVD and it freezes at random times when getting to the "Windows is loading files" screen. Also, if it finishes it just restarts my computer like nothing happened.

Below are posts from other threads, just decided to copy and paste it to maybe give more info. Any ideas? I've seriously given up. I figure the only things I haven't tried are different brand DVDs and maybe switching my DVD drive (I don't have an extra one so trying to stay away from this).

So I just downloaded ImgBurn after seeing it was kind of popular. Burned at its slowest speed (x1), put it in, ran it. It was going really well so I ran downstairs to get a drink and came back and the computer was booting up again like it restarted. After switching my 5 disks back and forth I got it to finish again just to see it instantly restart.

Sigh....

Edit: Also it's completely random how far it gets into the "Windows is loading files" screen. The bar freezes and the PC goes silent at completely random times. Sometimes it doesn't even get to that screen and just goes to a black screen after I press a key.....arrrrrggghhh this is so frustrating.

Edit: I've now burned 5 DVD's of the ISO at the lowest speed these programs could handle. All x4 except for 2 x1 ones from ImgBurn. I also used Alcohol 120% and another one. I'm starting to get the feeling it's not the disks.
 
If its an Ultimate seeded version Pre-activated X86 and X64,
u need to burn it with poweriso in low speed.
 
Right.. that will help Weskhan a lot..not talking about is main problem probably...

I'm using Verbatim Inkjet Printable DVD-R disks. I'll give the memory test a go after I test a different type of DVD.

And to others I've used ImgBurn with speed x1 (slowest I could find) and it still didn't work so I dunno.

Also I'm using the direct download link to the Windows 7 x64 HP ISO image. It's not a torrent or anything. And I used a download manager to make sure nothing went wrong.

I'm about to try using DVD+R disks from a different and better brand to see what happens.

try not using a download manager as well and trying a fresh download. do you have another computer you can put the disc in to see if it will boot like afriend or family members. if it boots in there computer then it looks to be a drive error.

Canivari whether or not it will help or not, we dont discuss illegal torrents, telling someone where to get them, how to burn and so on.

to the op let us know what happens
 
Is your BIOS ACPI full compliant?
check and see if u got any updates for her.
I allready had some problems with that..
 
Okay so now I'm getting really annoyed.

First of all I tried an official Windows XP disk and tried to install XP on here. It did the same thing. It looks different of course because it's XP, but it still gets to "Setup is loading files" and randomly freezes.

Also, I did the memory test and it gets and unknown error about 14% through. I don't know if this is because the memory or the program because it doesn't say the memory didn't pass the test it threw at it, it just gets an unknown error.

Here is another thread on what looks like to be the same problem. The OP eventually gets the OS to install but I can't really understand what he does. Maybe somebody can read it and figure something out:

Edit: Windows XP disk completed "Setup is loading files" screen just like burned Windows 7 copies did a couple of times, but did the same thing and restarted.

If there is memory errors you will get a list going down the screen below all text that is on top of the screen. Try using some known good memory or try reseating yours and try installing again.
 
I just took both memory sticks out and left 1 in (2 times for both) and it didn't work. Reseated in different slots and it didn't work. My friend is bringing over RAM he knows is good so I can try it. I'll post back with the outcome later.
 
Sorry for double post. Replaced RAM with working RAM and it froze again. Tried it twice. Don't know what else to do.

Edit: I'm seriously drained. I replaced the RAM with working ram and replaced the DVD drive with a different working one. Still freezes.

Don't know what to do, and seriously tired of trying to fix this.

So I took my hard drive out, put it in a friend's computer, installed Windows 7 (with the disk I've been using this whole time, it worked), and put it back into my computer. Now it gives me a "Bootmgr is missing. Press ctrl+alt+del to restart" error. Also I'm having a hard time accessing my Bios as everytime I press the key to get to it (delete) it just freezes at a screen that says "Wait...".

I looked at solutions to the "Bootmgr is missing" and they all just say to use the repair disk. I CAN'T use the repair disk because the original problem is reading the Windows 7 disk from the beginning.


I'm out of ideas. Somebody please help this is driving me insane.
 
You can't put your hard drive in a friends computer and install windows to it and then put it back in yours and expect it to boot. Your hardware is different than his.
 
? Installing Windows on it with another PC and putting it in mine should work just fine. The Bootmgr is missing error happened on his PC too, but he was able to get past it because he had multiple OSes or something. I can't use a recovery disk to fix the Bootmgr problem either, already tried it. Does the same thing, Windows is Loading Files and freezes or restarts.

But anyways, that doesn't really matter, it was another method I tried. When you've tried everything else, you might as well give it a shot.
 
No it won't work just fine. Your computer and his computer have totally different hardware so you can't install windows with it being in one computer and then transfer it to the other one and expect it to work. You have a hardware issue of somekind in your computer. Memory, CD, Cdrom drive, something is bad.
 
I just put it in another friend's PC, got past the Bootmgr problem somehow because of the multiple OSes or something, and it worked. V_V Considering I put in good RAM and good DVD drive, and formatted my HD, I'm pretty sure it's my mobo.

Any other ideas people so I don't have to return stuff?

Does the version of your BIOS full ready for your CPU?(check in mobo site if it is)
If it is then you could try to unplug some devices from your cpu
so you could see each one is originating the problem.
Discard all the PCIs,DVD/CD optial drives,All the ram out (just leave one so he boot of course)and try to run it with the basic configuration and see how it goes.If the computer starts not doing BSODs,then u can put one piece of hardware at the time and test it until you find the device that (isnt compatible with you system or is dead) that is blocking the POST displaying correctly.After you find the device that is freezing the system then you can try to reformatty your system with no problems.
What i can think is that an brand new computer that you are trying to formatt ,and this things happen all the time.

Well holy hell guess what. I just checked the CPU compatibility guide on the motherboard's site and the ONLY Intel Core 2 Duo that isn't listed is the Intel Core 2 Duo E7500 (mine). I don't understand, it said it supported Intel Core 2 Duo and the socket is the same, also my processor is extremely popular. Why would they not support it? I'm going to call them tomorrow to confirm that the CPU isn't supported.

If it's not supported, how can I return it to Tigerdirect to get another one? I know how to return it, but is there a method or "trick" to getting my money back to buy another one? I don't think they'll accept "My motherboard doesn't support it". I don't have the money to buy another one....

You could try to swap it for another with the some reason i guess.
If its not compatible, i am sure they will understand that.
