I think my school's giving my class Windows 7 Enterprise so we can do something at our house I guess ;D!!! lol i'm happy ;)

I'm still in the process of testing it out on my old Dell. All in all it's doing well, but I still prefer XP or even Vista.

Are you in some kind of software testing class? I could see us testing Windows 7 if I were still in the software testing class I had about a year ago.

Windows 7 Enterprise is available right now for a 90 Day free trial.

That's probably what they're giving out.

To first post,
No I think we are all getting a copy
To second post,
I think it's for my computer science class (Idk why :D) or my AV-tech class(tech aid)
To 3rd post,
Our school doesn't have trial version of Enterprise but after our trimester is over i can't reinstall 7 with that disk anymore but i still have it

I am hesitant about upgrading to win 7 as a fan of games. XP seems to be better.

Ever heard of DirectX?
DX11 will be coming out along with the official release of W7. I used W7 at my work (when i worked) they had XP, Ubuntu and 7 tri-booted, and XP and 7 ran almost identical on the same hardware.

Ok got the full story now :) we are getting Windows 7 home premium 32 or 64 bit and Visual basic software I guess because i'm in computer science I'm so excited! it's an .ISO file download and you get a key but since I'm on crap net I get a CD.

Very nice! Good for you. Lucky. :good:

Do you have Vista Home Premium right now? 32bit?

As long as the Windows 7 version you are getting is the same as the version of Vista you have right now, you should be able to upgrade and keep everything.

Windows 7 is not released yet
You cannot download the real version (actually you may be able to, but this is because MS may allow some servers to distribute it, not exactly sure though)

The "ISO" download that everyone (that's EVERYONE everywhere) is talking about is not the real version, its a test version that has limited time before it fully expires

Before updating to Windows 7 (even same version ie Vista Home 32 Bit > Windows 7 Home 32 Bit) you should back up all user data, just in case ;)

Windows 7 system requirements: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/get/system-requirements.aspx
But I would suggest double that (at least) to have a normal running computer
Normal: includes Antivirus and miscellaneous programs installed PLUS Windows 7 ;)

I put my favorite game onto a disk :D so it's all good we have some contract or w/e it's called with Microsoft I guess :D

The Upgrade shouldn't cause any file problems, but if you're doing a fresh install, then backing up files to discs, etc.. is a good idea.

i got a copy of windows 7 professional from my friend about a month ago :D

he can get free keys though a program hes part of

I think windows 7 is going to be revolutionary....I cant wait for the official release. although i think it was smart from microsofts side to actually release the beta version, because this helped in fixing all the bugs and stuff . We might have a better version of Xp at hand...:D..Cant wait

it's been out and evaluated for awhile now. it's definitely not revolutionary, but it's quicker, sleeker, and less of a pain in the ass than vista is.
