Windows Defender final version is out

http://download.microsoft.com/ doesn't work for me for some reason... I can't download anything from Microsoft. Anyone know what the problem could be?

You would check the security settings in IE and the firewall settings if you have one there to see if that is causing that problem to be seen. Another place to look is in the tools\options\security portion of Outlook Express. In IE it would be the "do not prompt for downloads" and "do not allows files attached to emails to be downloaded that may contain a virus" in the OE security settings.

Firefox, IE, Mac, Windows... doesn't matter. Any computer in my house won't connect there.

Try going to the XP home page at http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/default.mspx and then selecting the link for anti-spyware. That will bring you right to the main page for the Windows Defender. It sounds like your ISP firewall is somehow blocking something there. You shouldn't see any problems going to a Microsoft page regardless of what OS or browser you are running.

I can do everything on Microsoft until I have to use the download.microsoft.com server. I'm not one to have junk on my PC and I haven't had any problems with anything else at all... on any of my computers. This is really starting to bug me though, I can't download anything from microsoft.

Try running a free online scan with Housecall found at http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ Ewido.net also has a trojan scanner you can download free at http://www.ewido.net/en/download/ There's a few "bugs" that can get on unnoticed at times. Have you tried running the validation tool to see if something there is the cause? http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/downloads/Validate.aspx?displaylang=en

How can it be a problem like that if I can't access it on any of my computers? Including my Mac which obviously has nothing wrong with it. It's something with my Internet connection/router/etc. or something... I don't think anything it wrong with my computers.

Are you currently running any firewalls or have the security settings set to block downloads? Sometimes addon security tools can restrict normally overlooked items and consider the MS download pages as a "risk". If the settings are too high in Outlook Express with the "do not download files attached to emails that could be a virus" or others are up too high that could be one thing right there.

Nothing is running... I use my Mac a bit more than the others and it doesn't have a single security program that could block it.... I barely have any security on my computers except Windows Firewall on my two Windows.
