Windows Longhorn

I was taking a look at the so called "Future of Operating Systems" as Microsoft put it, and I came across there lastest OS, Longhorn.
Now Longhorn is supposed to be released in the early months of 2006. But it is going to really be the lastest OS or just another way of marketing Windows XP. The spec to run Longhorn is 512MB RAM, "Modern" CPU and a "Modern" Graphics processor.
As I was looking at a section entitled "More Effective At Home And Work", every single subtitle starts with "Beyond.....".

You guys have a look at tell me what you think.
Based on my previous experiances with Windows I think it's going to be a flop just XP was and SP2.
But then again I just plain dislike Microsoft

Now bare in Mind that I think Linux Rox! . Now what in the heck do you mean that xp and SP2 where flops? I feel that this is soooo far from fact. Linux is great but it's tooooooooo complicated for the average user. I mean there are just to many distros that if confuses most people as some are tough as nails while others are pretty simple. I even had frusterations with the latest version of Mandrake not recognising my digetal camera (fuji finpix S5100) that pissed me off so terribly that I switched to Suse which I'm happy with.

Anyhow I could argue all day long but I honestly dont want too . I really just wanted you to comment further on Winxp being a flop.

Oh ya just wanted to mention that I too just hated Windows... Well until the release of windows xp that is . Also If Microsoft keeps up the good work I know I'll feel the same towards the next version of windows. Heck I might even be able to forget about the Monopoly they have been running since time began.

Absolutely ... as much stupidity as MS has -- only 10% of it is because of their policy to support legacy stuff (which wil change in Longhorn) -- 90% of it is because they need to cater to people who have to have the term "double click" explained in detail. The same dealy with copy protection and stuff -- the weakest link is the end user.
