Wishing to upgrade grapics on a laptop?

Hi, I'm new to laptops (and this forum), and just recently bought an HP 530 notebook. I'm wondering if there's any way to upgrade graphics any higher? The closest I've seen is PCMCIA tv tuners. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The simplest response without looking up anything at all...

NO

Even the ones where it is possible, you void warranty, and it would have been cheaper to upgrade it directly from the factory.

So no, no way to change gpu in "most" laptops right now.

edit: your gpu is the GMA 950. No your not upgrading that, so you don't fit into those few that can actually be upgraded.

You can upgrade a video card in a laptop, but the other members that commented on this as well are right- it is cheaper to just get a new laptop with a better video card. Video cards in laptops are built right onto the motherboard of your machine, so it's not just something that you can pop right out and change. You could potentially get a new motherboard, but that would cost you half again as much as a new laptop, so it might not be worth it. Best guess is to just look for a laptop that has a good video card in it. Most of the new hp's are coming with nVidia cards, so that might be a way to go when it is time to upgrade.

this annoys me to no end! im at college right now, and a bunch of people have these crappy toshibas that have crappy integrated GPUs. they all want battlefield 2, but when i install it, it wont work (3 cases so far) cause the junky "intel media accelerator" cant handle it!!! and so the guys say "how much will a better GPU cost" or "i guess i'll ask for a GPU for X-mas". and i tell em over and over that its next to impossible to upgrade, and they always ask "why?". arrrrgh!
[end rant]

i dont mean any disrespect to the original poster. its definately a legitimate question.

Only in a select few. The ones that do have a slot for a dedicated card may only work with certain cards, because theres no set standard yet for laptop GPU's.
