world of warcraft

ive been looking at trailers for this and am thinking about getting into this. however there are so many warcraft games, can someone suggest which the best ones are. Also, they appear to be expansion packs, however i am not sure. If so, do i need to have the original game to use the expansion.

world of warcraft and warcraft III are the best ones in my opinion. World of Warcraft has one expansion out, and another one in the making, and yes you do need the original to play the expansions, same goes for warcraft III and its expansion. WoW is an rpg though, and WCIII is a strategy game.

I am still a fan of Warcraft 2, and starcraft. I don't play MMOs though.

What type of game are you looking for? MMO? RTS? There are some cool sci fi and fantasy RTS games out there.

Sins of a Solar Empire is a new Sci-fi RTS, really is a great game. The possible scale is huge, hundreds of ships, hundreds of planets. Similar to sup com in this fashion.

I've never played W2. Warcraft 3 was pretty cool, But I found WoW and every other MMO i've tried to be lethargic. To keep this post relevant, you can try the free wow demo before buying.

World of Warcraft is really cool. I have some friends that play it, and they got me to start playing it. I don't really have enough time to play it though. It requires a lot of time and commitment.

I basically figured out that if you want to be good at world of warcraft, you have to totally screw your social life, and everything else that you do after work/school.. so it dosent work for me..

Yeah these are my favorite too. Although, they are way different. RPG's are for some people and not others. They are a lot of fun if you have a lot of spare time on your hands haha.

World of Warcraft is THE best game in the world, IMO.
>>>Langers, level 70 Night Elf Fury Warrior, Terenas<<<
>>>Insectus, level 70 Human Holy Paladin, Terenas<<<
It's a brilliant game and the absolute best MMORPG that's out there, undefeated.
Warcraft 3 is also fantastic, every now and then I get all my mates round with their rigs/laptops and we do a massive WC3 game over LAN. DOTA FTW ;)

EDIT: Oh, and by the way, World of Warcraft had an expansion called 'The Burning Crusade' which added many features, but none that you'll really miss until you properly understand the game and are a much higher level.
Another expansion, 'Wrath of the Lich King' is set to be released very soon. This will add many new features, but again, nothing you'll notice or miss until you level your toon up.
You only need the original World of Warcraft to play, and you're free to upgrade to the expansions whenever you please.

WoW gets really really really boring after about the first two months. I played for a little while but after doing the same type quests time and time again I gave up. Like mentioned before, the cost is not worth it unless your gonna dedicate half your life to it and not expect to have any shred of a life. Just keep that monthly fee in mind if you consider to play it

Warcraft is such a plauge on other games, taking gamers from different genres and forcing them to like it :( damn you warcraft................*Logs onto WoW*

This is just my opinion and I played MMOs since the late 90s, is that all the new ones are too easy and too cookie cutter and too repetitive in my mind. No challenge and the same materials recycled over and over again.

In retrospect the same can be said about FPS games as well. They are all pretty much recycled Doom, UT, HL, Quake over and over again.

There is nothing new in the gaming market these days and I find it rather boring and well I just am waiting for the next game to blow me out of the waters.

I think the coolest most recent game I played was Bioshock. It had a very unique feel and unique game play to it as well as an interesting story line and a very cool 50s rehash science fiction feel to it. I think the game could have made a great book it was that cool.

Where as Crysis may look pretty but when I played it, I felt it was just like every other shooter but with just better graphics.

I agree with Bioshock there (just installed it again, and yay! my 3870 can run it maxed out on DX10 :D ) Bioshock has a great feeling to it, and is definately a great game.

Crysis, well, true, and not true there imo ^^ yes, you can play it like any shooter, but you can also play it completely different, like, really use the envirement to get to your goal, rather than, shoot, cloak, run a bit, shoot again :) (I think you get my point)

Have you played Tomb Raider: anniversary tlarkin? its quite different from the games around normally, and its one of my favorite games so far :)

No, is the tomb raider out for xbox 360? I'll have to try it. My brother is a store manager at a Gamestop, so i get the hook up on games.

yes, it also has been released for the 360. (I preferred tomb raider games on pc so far tough, so i've got this one for the pc myself)
the game is mainly looking for where to go, and solving small puzzles. (its a remake with the storyline of Tomb raider 1, hence the title anniversary, its jsut SO way better than 1 ^^)

cant wait for the next tombraider tbh :) Tomb raider underworld is incomming ^_^ ( Q4 2008 :( )

I haven't bothered to upgrade my PC in a while, since I have been using macs mostly for work. Not sure if it will handle newer games all too well.

another thing I liked about that game, it was really easy to run ^^ but yea, might be better on the xbox then

wow is such a game:
you ain't willing to dedicate your life to it and then you are gonna be nothing but shit in the game;
you are willing to dedicate your life to it and then you are gonna be nothing but shit in the reality.

I hate this game. It's electronic heroin.

I know for sure that thats not true ;) I play WoW, and am currently working on my Master degree in power electronics, while playing with the latest stuff in WoW. like everything tough, you gotta take it in moderation. you jsut have to set yourself a limit for the ammount of time you want to spend on it, because it can get really time consuming if you dont do that ^^ (but then, i've seen peopel beeing way more addicted to counterstrike than i've seen people to WoW so far, and you hear noone saying 'omg, counterstrike is electronic herion' or "counterstrike is a stupid game because its addictive"
no offense inteded there btw, but i assume everyone gets my point :)

I know a few people that lost their lives to WoW. It is all about self control you can't blame the game or the developer just like you can't blame the drug someone is addicted to. The addictiveness comes from the personality of the person and the lack of their self control.

Exactly, so many people have trouble seeing this. It's easier to blame the game than the people they know, hear about, or are themselves.
