I want a computer that is fast Internet surfing, faster downloading, watching videos, and light gaming. And all this stuff is for newegg.

No, you have a Socket 939 motherboard with a socket AM2 CPU. You need them to be the same. I would suggest buying a AMD Athlon 64 3500 for 114$ from newegg.com it would be compatible with the motherboard you selected unlike the AM2 you chose.

Although if you did that then you would need to pick out new RAM since you would need DDR ram, not DDR2

So either, you need to get a new CPU and new RAM, OR just a new motherboard. I would personally go for socket 939 and regular DDR ram, and also get a Athlon 64 based CPU.

aside from that everything looks pretty good. do you think you really need that sound card though?

Also, you said you want it for fast downloding and surfing...you could do that with a quite old computer, you good a good internet service for that, same with watyching videos, although depding on what, you would want one semi recent.

IMO, I think your going a little overboard if the most intesive thing you do is light gaming

i dont think he's going overboard, i think with a Athlon 3500+ and 2 gigs of DDR400 he'll have a pretty nice system that'll last him a while

G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM Unbuffered DDR 400 (PC 3200) Dual Channel Kit System Memory - Retail $163.99

AMD Athlon 64 3500+ Orleans 2000MHz HT 512KB L2 Cache Socket AM2 Processor - Retail $112.41

So now it would be a great system with no problems?

all works fine, but still dual core vs single core for a future computer?
especially on a socket am2? sempron is not worth getting, well, athlon is bit better, but still, i would rather have cheaper sound card, and get x2 3800 cpu...
or if you are out of money, i'd rather downgrade your memory to 1gb and get x2 3800,,,
this will benefit you in the future, whatever you do,,,

So all of this will work??? Is the processor good enough or am i going to want to upgrade??? What about the RAM too???

I am on a budget build so I didn't know if I really could build a computer I wanted for under $850 with every thing. I still need a monitor, case, keyboard and a mouse. And if I can afford it I would get the 3800. Will the Ram work???

soo why are we building a 939 system where am2 is about the same price guys? Get an am2 motherboard with the same cpu, but am2 version and get some ddr2 ram and you're set.
