So you're saying that the 9500 won't work on C2D models? No offense, but you have no idea what you're talking about. It doesn't matter what www.coolerguys.com says; you act like they're omniscient or something

Once you go there yourself and select a catagory then you can see for yourself how they have things arranged on their site. You then look over a specific make and model to read the product information there. Gee? I wonder how things are at other vendors? hhmmm... http://img341.imageshack.us/my.php?image=xoxidecpucoolersot3.jpg

Yeah, but PC eye, the 9500 does appear under Socket t (LGA 775), indicating that it is used for Core 2 Duo's. I don't understant how the layout of that is the deciding point on whether to choose the 9500 or 9700...

You still go to the product information to review that to see what socket type it can be used on. Core 2 Duos are more temperature sensitive then P4s are and have a lower temp threshold. Where the max temp is about 85-90C on a P4 it's between 60-70C on many newer models. The manufacturer will make the recommendation on that. Let's what the product information on the 9500 has to say about Core 2 Duos shall we?

How about the 9700?

Oops! There's seems to be something different seen there.

PC_eye, just accept defeat.

The 9700 LED is compatible with:
Intel LGA 775 , AMD Socket 754 / 939 / 940 / AM2

The 9500 LED is compatible with:
Intel:
All Dual Core Pentium CPUs (Socket 775)
All Pentium 4 CPUs (Socket 775 / 478)
AMD:
All Dual Core AMD Athlon 64 X2 CPUs (Socket 939)
All AMD Sempron/AMD64 CPUs (Socket 754 / 939 / 940)

Then, there is another 9500 that is designed specifically for Socket AM2, and another designed for LGA775 with automatic fan speed control.

Both the 9500 and the 9700 will be more than enough to cool the Core 2 Duos. Personally, coolerguys.com doesn't have all the answers. Also, my newegg.com source doesn't have all the perfect answers for every product out, but these are correct. Sadly the zalmanusa.com site is down, so I can't show you directly.

About Archangel's CPU. You must realize that she is overclocking it :) :
AMD 'Toledo' 4800+ X2 (2760MHz)
A considerable overclock, so say the least.

I think the only reason why it's like that is because the CNPS9500(LED/AT) was released before the Core 2 Duo.
