In further attempts to save myself some money I came up with this build,

it is still crossfire/SLI ready and Is approximately 800$ without OS

Yeah ok, for a budget system that is fine. I would prefer to see a 2500K with that GPU, but that is my opinion only.

how does the 2500k affect the video card?

also, what intel CPU is most similar in price and preformance to the 955 BE?

CPU does effect the GPU as the FSB is a system relying on the next weakest link. No point getting a really powerful card with a weak CPU or rubbish ram.

No, but to say that the CPU has no effect on the GPU is just plain wrong.

Sorry I did not realise that. I'm still learning:)

Do you think I should go with the gtx460 2gb card, or a gtx 470 1gb card?

I plan to SLI in the future and I heard that the 470 does get realy hot

Sorry mate, not meaning to offend you, or anyone, i was referring to Linkin's comment. The 965 is no faster than the 955be and uses much more power.

CPU doesn't affect the video card. CPU determines performance in CPU-heavy tasks. :)

In regards to your question, what resolution are you playing games at?

In that case the 460 will be fine, but i would suggest a sandy bridge system based on the 2500 or 2500K if you plan on overclocking. Either that or wait a month until bulldozer has been released and see what AMD has to offer then. Really, buying that or any AMD CPU now is not smart. You either get a sandybridge system, which can take ivybridge (on the same socket) next year, or wait until Bulldozer is released. The current crop of AMD cpus are old and pretty lame imo.

Essentially what i am saying is, if you can wait, wait, as now is not a good time to purcahse a new system. See what Bulldozer is like, and then make a decision, else 2500K is your man.. ;)

when is the bulldozer set of CPUs coming out? next month?

and I'm getting this CPU because of my budget.

I'm not sure if I want to throw in the extra 100$ on a bulldozer cpu
