Video Card slightly too big, won't screw

I have a hp m9250f. I just installed a new power supply and new graphics card for the first time and the video card is slightly too big. It fits into the slot but the part that I screw to keep it secure can't fit because the graphics card is too wide. The part I'm talking about that keeps it secure is the 4th image. In the 4th image you can see that it's popping up because it's a tad too wide. It's supposed to be like the (audio card I assume) in the third image on the right of the video card.

It's a GTX 560ti as you can see. Is it ok to leave the metal part off without screwing it on or should I duct tape something to keep it in place? It holds but I feel that gravity will take its toll on the pci? slot.

I made a small video to show what the problem is

Is it fully seated properly? You shouldn't have an issue with it not screwing in.

Ok thanks. Just wanted to make sure it wouldn't be breaking anything.

Now my problem is that it won't turn on :O. I installed a higher power supply and now it doesn't turn on. I have a loose black cable...

When I press the power button nothing happens. I thought the wire might just be for an LED or something trivial and I would find out what it was when I turned it on. Unfortunately I haven't gotten that far.

Must have this working by skyrim.... I appreciate any help I can get as to what and where the wire is supposed to go. I apologize if this is in the wrong category, if I must, I'll repost this in the PSU section.

Edit: I think it's the wire to the power button. I have no idea how to rewire it. I'm going to hand it in to a shop.

It should push completely into the slot, and you may even hear a click from the tab of the slot locking the card in place.

That wire looks like a wireless antenna. Does the machine have any kind of built in wireless?

And are you also sure you connected the power cables for the video card? There may be either one or two 6-pin power cables that plug into it.

If you have not screwed the card into the case, then your card is not seated properly, and this would cause it to not work properly and if left like that potentialy break the card and the pci-e slot. If the computer will not start go through and double check all your connections (check them and re-seat them.) Also make sure you have the switch turned on for the power supply.

I fixed it, the outer casing wasn't connecting to the power switch. Doh. The graphics card problem was fixed, I just needed to push the side part in and screw it in anyways. I'm very grateful.

I can provide any pictures or videos of my computer, answer any questions if it helps.

Edit: fixed network adapter issue, reconnected antenna.

is This essential? It's interfering with my graphics card's fan and I don't use anything on the back of it. It says Wintv on it. It's connected to wires that are hard to reach and go to the front of my computer where there are more RCA outlets. Is it normal for it to be loud and get a little hot? I'm not sure if I can remove the entire thing connected to the card, would it be ok to remove the wire part connected to it and leave it hanging?

Unless you use it, no it's not essential. It's just a TV tuner card.

However, random pieces of hardware floating around your case might cause some issues :P

Basic rule of computing: If it's not being used, leave it alone or take it out. Don't leave it hanging in the case.

Just making sure, did you remove this?

Ya know, I didn't even notice that. I remember a member posting not long ago that he just figured out he could do that after having a dual-slot card for more than a year.

Is your chassis large enough for the card? The first thing that I would do is call the manufacturer or retailer you bought the card from, and check everything you have against a list of parts included. You could be missing a few screws or some other vital part that clamps it. Also you need to have all parts for the chassis.

I took out the card, i was talking about the wire, and it seems to work fine. I was just playing the witcher 2 for a while. No i didn't remove that thing that you circled, whats it for?

Edit: I just checked, its the same slot as the tv tuner. It's not for a graphics card.

it is designed to keep dust out of the case when a card is not installed. If you install the card, you have to remove it, or you will just block up the cards airflow. Also, it will cause the card not to fit (your issue currently).

Remove the GPU and take a pic of the slot. One from the top, and one from the same angle as the first pic. Then we will be able to tell you how to remove it.

It's an expansion slot cover, your have a dual slot GPU so you need to remove 2 for it to properly fit You can remove it with your hand
