Corsair HX520W run SLI 8600GTS cards?

No, I was thinking a DX10 7600GT XD

I am literally looking for a toy... Just something to put dual cards in... Don't ask me why I am craving this? What do you guys suggest?

Thanks

:D:D I do the same thing, if you want to keep it aroud 300 with a direct X 10 card the 8600GTS is about the best your going to do. You could go with direct X 9 cards and crossfire a couple of X1950 pros

Hot!! Hot!! Hot!! ATI cards that is... And use power... So OC'ing doesn't go too far. I can get Sapphire X1950PRO's for $137.. Should I do it? What board? I think I will go E6550...

Thanks

Yea the X1950 pro will suck more juice than the 8600GTS and would be alittle hotter, dont know about Crossfire boards, dont do to many crossfire setups, installed alot of ATI single cards but mostly do SLI ON dual setups

I am just gonna go with dual 8600GTS... I wonder if there is a Micro ATX SLI board? I want a LANBox case.....

Thanks man

The best ATI lineup for DX10 would be a pair of HD 2900XT models with the 512bit memory interface in Crossfire there. For either ATI or NVidia I'll give MSI the edge over Sapphire by a long shot. BFG and EVGA along with Asus also favor over Sapphire often.

I have a tendency to favor EVGA, awesome tech support, they're not scared to go the extra mile for RMA or helping you out.

So, is there a way to water cool 8600GTS's? And an E6550 for under $300....

SLI for the most part works out best when you are going to run multiple monitors where the added demand is placed on what would be a single card. Intense gamers playing auto racing games like the feel of having the dsplay surround them. Or for large screen presentations like seen with businesses and sales presentations or school class rooms you would readily see how the need would pratically met.

For the games out and just seeing a good build with a high end card you can easily pick a performance model and save the do re' me for some later upgrade or expansion. You see some cards out now demanding over $1000 for a price on those due to simply being the latest out. In many ways Bradan does have a point there about excess cost and not seeing a real performance gain on some games overall.

this is so stupid, get an 8800 gts 640, u save money on the mobo

Bradan read the whole friggin thread, before posting up senseless BS like this.. What did I say about benchmarks earlier? Did I not clearly state that this was an SLI 'toy'? I just want to screw around with an SLI rig. I am getting so tired of this... READ THE WHOLE THREAD!!

Did anyone not catch my 'drift'? I said an SLI 'toy'... I meant I want a small SLI rig, I could careless about performance now with my 8800GTX rig. In other words, I am going to build this, screw around with it, change some things, see what performance things I can tweak, keep it for a month and sell it. Do you really think I care about money/performance ratio? I just want something with different hardware is that much to ask?

With SLI enabled you cant run Dual Monitors without disabling SLI or installing a third PCI video card!

The MSI Radeon HD 2600XT 512mb model here has two not one vga port for running two monitors. With that in Crossfire the option for two cards is present. This depends on the make and model card since the 2600 offers the two connectors while most are strictly limited to one. That's when a pci card would be needed.

The HX520 would be good for just the basics there however without any heavy ocing planned or a case loaded with extras. Then you would want to go with a larger model like the HX620 to provide that little extra needed.

why not add another 8800 and retain the value?

This is not for my gaming computer... For my computer to be SLI, it would need an Antec Quattro 850W, EVGA 680i, another 8800GTX, costing me around $900. I am one of those ppl who build and sell, not with my GTX pc though. I just like having my 'tweak toys'.

The HX520 will be fine for a pair of 8600GTSs or a pair of 2600XTs.

Thank you... I am probably gonna get the 2600XT's since Crossfire is a bit better, but ATI's inefficiency takes the downfall.

BUT...Is SLI supported in more games or is Crossfire?

Thanks

For Crossfire being considered or SLI you may want to make note of this. For a Crossfire setup you would need an ATI or possibly AMD chipset on the board. For SLI that requires an NVidia chipset. Looking at your sig I spotted the Intel chipset there. You will most likely need a board change if that's the build this is intended for.

I know that, this isn't for my rig though. This is for a whole different rig. I love my current rig...
