2600XT suck compaired to 8600gts, Think in directX 9 a 7600GT will take on a 2600XT
No, I was thinking a DX10 7600GT XD
I am literally looking for a toy... Just something to put dual cards in... Don't ask me why I am craving this? What do you guys suggest?
Thanks
I do the same thing, if you want to keep it aroud 300 with a direct X 10 card the 8600GTS is about the best your going to do. You could go with direct X 9 cards and crossfire a couple of X1950 pros
Yea the X1950 pro will suck more juice than the 8600GTS and would be alittle hotter, dont know about Crossfire boards, dont do to many crossfire setups, installed alot of ATI single cards but mostly do SLI ON dual setups
The best ATI lineup for DX10 would be a pair of HD 2900XT models with the 512bit memory interface in Crossfire there. For either ATI or NVidia I'll give MSI the edge over Sapphire by a long shot. BFG and EVGA along with Asus also favor over Sapphire often.
this is so stupid, get an 8800 gts 640, u save money on the mobo
SLI for the most part works out best when you are going to run multiple monitors where the added demand is placed on what would be a single card. Intense gamers playing auto racing games like the feel of having the dsplay surround them. Or for large screen presentations like seen with businesses and sales presentations or school class rooms you would readily see how the need would pratically met.
With SLI enabled you cant run Dual Monitors without disabling SLI or installing a third PCI video card!
why not add another 8800 and retain the value?
The HX520 will be fine for a pair of 8600GTSs or a pair of 2600XTs.
For Crossfire being considered or SLI you may want to make note of this. For a Crossfire setup you would need an ATI or possibly AMD chipset on the board. For SLI that requires an NVidia chipset. Looking at your sig I spotted the Intel chipset there. You will most likely need a board change if that's the build this is intended for.
